Went to Precana This Weekend
We fulfilled our Precana requirement for the church this past weekend and I must tell you it was a very enjoyable experience. There were alot of other couples there (try 48 couples!) and we got to chat with a few during lunch. The couple who ran it were both in their early 60's and had some great and helpful things to say. Also the workbook stuff we did was really helpful in putting the pen to paper regarding things that ayone getting married can benefit from (communication, expectations etc). We were never put on the spot for anything either which I think is everyone's fear when they go (so I've heard). We came away feeling very healthy and in tune with each other. It reconfirmed my desire to marry this man. :o)
good luck

What church are you getting married in?
They have a page on this site with a link to their site. You should find it there. http://www.liweddings.com/businesses/31/headpieces/patchogue/index.html

Was this a weekend retreat? Or a one day thing? It actually sounds like fun, believe it or not. I'm glad you had a good experience.

This was 9:30 - 4:30 on Saturday. If you are going to do it, I recommend the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston. We got a hot meal lunch (I thought it would be an airline-type brown bag lunch) where we got to sit with & meet other couples too. The weather was so nice but we got to step outside if we chose for 1/2 hour's where we do some writing then discuss it with each other so I felt like I enjoyed the weather too. You were also able to raise your hand to introduce a subject or ask questions related to what the married couple was speaking on. And we got a great workbook with other topics. For us, this is all new (ie, merging family, finances, beliefs, etc) so there was alot of emphasis on helping with that. And of course spirituality but it wasnt all about that. I can't say enough about it (obviously!). I hope everyone has as good an experience. It really had so much more of an impact on both of us than we realized it would.
Definitely let me know how your planning goes! We are really excited by MPI as well, especially since we had ONE weekend to find a hall, book our photographer, and find a church!! MPI was the last in a line of 7 halls we looked at in one day. It really stood out over the rest in terms of the space, the food, the service, the people...I could go on. Please feel free to email me to keep in touch!

Elizabeth,
I did my PreCana with them also- they were so funny, espcially the guy. Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm closing in on a videographer and before I book, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for who I should look at and who I should stay away from before I finalize.
