Went to wedding at Milleridge Cottage, Code Blue played. My LONG review!

Well I promised on Friday that I would post about the wedding I went to last night at the Milleridge Cottage...so here are my comments.

Dresses:
First of all the bride and bridal party all looked fabulous. She wore a Priscilla of Boston dress. This is the one, it's style 2739.


The maid or honor and bridesmaids all wore Watters & Watters style 2439. This is it, except theirs was a burgandy color. It was very flattering on all of them.


Milleridge Cottage:

Cocktail hour~We got there a half hour early (for once there was no traffic on the LIE) and we were able to go right in check our coats and get a drink. The bride and groom did not use the Milleridge florist so they were able to use the flowers that were included in the package elsewhere, so there were flowers everywhere. In the 'lobby' area (I use quotes because eventually it all opens into one room) there was a pianist. On the piano they had their parents wedding pics and a collage with pics of themselves together and separately. There was a separate table with the place cards (they used frames) and on that table they had a couple votive candles and their engagement pic. It had a very romantic feel. We made our way into the cocktail hour room. Food included (from what I can remember) hot trays with chicken marsala, eggplant rollatini, & some kind of beef with rice. The chicken & eggplant were delicious. There was a carving station that I didn't visit. There was a cold table with cheeses, crackers, & other assorted things (don't remember). They had tortellini in a cream sauce which was really good. They also had a seafood display with shrimp cocktail, clams casino & lobster claws. Everything seemed fresh and tasted good. There was a bar in the cocktail room which was good so you didn't have to go back to the 'lobby' bar. Our only complaint at the cocktail hour was we didn't sit at all. There were quite a few people standing. We may have been able to go back to the lobby area & find a couch, I'm not sure. Other than that everything tasted & looked great.

Reception~The room was gorgeous. There were tall centerpieces (again not by the Milleridge florist) and votives on all the tables. The fireplace had pillar candles all across. Along with the candles the old fashioned chandeliers gave a really romantic glow to the room (it was pretty dim though, but beautiful). The room is big! We were at the friends table so of course we were in the corner! We were close to the bride and groom but still in the corner by the kitchen. It was hard to see anyone on the dance floor and hard to hear the speeches because of the noise in the kitchen (the band was also way on the other side of the room so the speakers were very far from us). Someone at our table went over and shut the kitchen door. Now I really do think that this was only an issue at our table. So anyone getting married there should not worry, except maybe ask that the kitchen doors stay closed and tell the best man/maid of honor to speak up during their speeches. Anyway, dinner was very, very good. We started with what I think was a crepe. It had spinach in it and a cream sauce over it. We were wary at first cuz no one knew what it was but then all felt dumb because it tasted great. Then there was ceasar salad followed by onion soup, which I thought was a very different choice for a wedding, but good nonetheless. Dinner was a choice of surf & turf, chicken and ???. Can't remember the third. Most of the table got the surf and turf, it was out of this world good. The other couple people got the chicken and I heard no complaints. Late in the evening the band announced the vianese would take place back in the cocktail hour room (it was really all one room at this point). So it was a mad dash. The desserts was amazing, there was carrot cake, brownies, chocolate mousse, little chocolate cups with different mousses, ice cream sundaes, pecan pie, cheese cake, various pastries and cookies, and other things I can't remember. There was also an espresso bar with liquor, yummy. Back in the reception room coffee and cake was serves (I'm sorry to say I never tasted the cake cuz I was so full from the vianese tables). All in all I would say the food, decor and service were all impressive. I noticed again and again that there was always a waiter/waitress getting plates of food and drinks for the bridal party. They all seemed to have a ball.

Code Blue:

My FH & I were curious to see them because they were recommended to us but were already booked for our date. They really were great. They played a variety of songs. The first dance was 'From This Moment'. She danced to 'Butterfly Kisses' with her parents (not a dry eye in the house). They even played Bocelli's 'Con ti Partiro' which got a huge round of applause. The dance floor was packed all night. They played a bunch of motown and some very current songs, all very well. They did a great job introducing the bridal party, giving away centerpieces and moving things along in general. While the band took their break the guitarist continued playing. Overall we were impressed.

Ok, that concludes my very long review! I'm sorry I don't have pics. But I hope the Milleridge/Code Blue brides enjoyed this!

thought i'd share what the favors were:

these were the placecard frames:


On the tables they had a tin for each person

filled with tiny mints

The label was a pic of a tux and gown with their names and there was a burgandy bow affixed to the tin.
They also had a card that explained that they made a donation to a pancreatic cancer organization. Everyone was touched, because this is a cause near and dear to the bride and groom.

This is so great - thanks for sharing this!! I already made a note to ask about the kitchen doors. Do you know about how many people were at the wedding? Oh, and I love the idea of pillar candles on the mantle - I'm going to take that from your friend!

eogara - there had to be upwards of 200 people there, the room was packed

violetfairy - if i would have known i would have taken a closer look at the sax player! but i bet he's as cute as his music is sweet!

Aren't they great? I just used them at my wedding and people are still complimenting me on them( not that my wedding was that long ago!
