? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

should we stay at the hotel where we have a room block- the suite there is nothing special

but it's like 2 minutes away from our RH
I doubt we will have many OOT guests and there won't be a bar or anything to hang out in later, which is OK bc we are doing the extra hour for our wedding

ORRR

should we go all out and a get nice room somewhere else, like maybe NYC, with a spa and some pampering?

wedding is fri night...leaving Sunday morning for our HM
so we would stay in hotel friday and sat night

FBIL suggested we stay at the W in NYC, get massages and have a nice dinner in NYC sat night

as NWs, what did you do? or what do you think is best since youve already been there and done that? lol

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

imo at that point you might be so tired that a trip into the city after that would probably be annoying... i know it was annoying for me to take the ride back home after... id opt for the hotel cloer to the RH

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

We considered the very same thing- taking the trip back towards Queens/Manhattan and staying somewhere fancier. Ultimately, we were exhausted and glad we only had a 10 minute ride to the hotel. I'd save that fancy pants hotel experience for v-day or an anniversary or something.

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

well, if you are staying 2 nights and dont need to worry about anything, then i would consider doing something nice

from my perspective....we had wedding on sat. left for HM tuesday AM. between wedding and HM we both still needed to pack!!! (no time before wedding to think about that for us!), which also meant doing laundry and buying last-minute items. i also got my NW chop b4 the HM....so we were definitely running around! it was not the time to really have the massage and relax (we did have couples massage the day BEFORE the wedding...and it was PERFECT timing!!)

also, since we only had 1 night at the hotel, we had check out at noon....so by the time we woke up and really got out of bed, it was time to hurry up and leave

if you actually have the TIMEEEE to spend, sure. go all out.

but if not, save that for the HM and just do something basic

most of the time you will be in bed, talking bout the wedding, looking forward to the HM, etc etc. if you want the massage there are probably salons closer to the other hotel too. not sure if its worth it to go in to the city

but thats just my 2 cents...

hth

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

thank you ladies! much appreciated, this is exactly the perspective i wanted!

I also was worried we'd be exhausted to have to go allll the way into NYC after the wedding which is why I figured one night at the hotel close to us would be better

and I am hoping to do absolutely NOTHING after the wedding! lol no errands no running around, but again thats what im hoping

thanks girlies!

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

I agree with others who said that your going to be shot after your wedding. Trecking to the city is going to be the LAST thing you wanna do.

I'd say stay at the hotel where everyone else is staying and put the extra $ towards something during the honeymoon.

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

stay at the hotel close to your RH where your guests will be staying. After the reception you can all hang out. What would you do with your gifts if you went to the city...leave them with a family member ? or all of the other leftovers from the wedding as well ?

By the end of the night you are gonna be sooo tired. The day after your wedding you can catch up on any odds and ends that might have to be taken care of before your honeymoon. It is always nice to have a day inbetween the reception and honeymoon !! I did and I still didn't have enough time to get everything together !! Save the pampering for the honeymoon !!!

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

I'd stay at the hotel where your room block is. We did and it worked out really well. Our guests all met up there at the hotel bar after the wedding and we pretty much took it over til 2 am. It was awesome. Maybe you guys can arrange an after wedding get together!

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

I would stay at the hotel closest. When I was leaving I could not wait to get out of my dress (I forgot to bring a change of clothes for after the reception). We were totally exhausted after.

Re: ? about wedding night (xpost from 11 board)

We went back to stay at my parents for the few days before we left for our honeymoon....it was nice b/c we had relatives from out of town and the next 2 days after the wedding was like a big party at my parents. I also found that while on my honeymoon, I really missed my family (some I hadn't seen in 10 years) so you might not want to 'dissappear' right away after the wedding, if you have guests from out of town that you want to hang out with.
