Anyone's DH travel often for work?
How many of you lovely ladies are left at home mutiple days a week before the hubster is off traveling for business?DH just started a new position at work and he went on his first two travel trips in February. It's definitely a big adjustment for us, considering he comes and goes every few days. We have the weekends together and it's nice to 'miss' him, but not having a routine is hard.
Any advice on how to deal?

Re: Anyone's DH travel often for work?
When DH and I first moved in together (4 years ago) he had a job that had him traveling usually 3-4 days out of the week. It definitely made things difficult, not seeing him all the time, but it was also nice to have time to myself as well. But we are used to the long distance thing anyway since I was away at college for the first 4 years of our relationship. My advice, use the time to clean, experiment with new recipes, work out, take care of yourself. And be sure to throw some girls' days in there as well!

OMG YES!!!!!!!!!!DH travels ALL THE TIME.... and I hate it because I miss him and I hate being home alone at night! I'm still a little baby who's afraid of the dark lol.
Like this week for example.. he left Monday and he's coming back Friday night. It sucks.. but what can you do? You have to make the best of it. I really don't do much while he's away (especially since I'm preggers).. I jsut lay on the couch, eat salsa and chips.. and watch reality tv. lol

Dh is in the middle of an interview process for a job that requires him to travel m-th every week. He is more shaken up about it than I am..........at the moment. I will be a wreck if it goes thru but happy for him bc it would be a really amazing job. I am so conflicted.

This is how I feel - I'm really happy for him becuase the job is a great opportunity and can lead to better things, but it's definitely tough.
It's hard hearing him going out for drinks and to dinner every night when i'm just hanging out at home, but he doesn't have a kitchen when he's living out of a hotel room, so i guess i'll just have to get used to it.
I've definitely been planning my visits to the gym for every night that he's away since that takes up a little chunk of the evening. I suppose eventually it will feel more 'normal' once I get into a new routine

LINZ, If Kieran gets this job (he's got a phone call @ 5pm tonight - may have an update soon) then we can get manis/pedis and do yoga and have fun dinners etc etc etc....
I think it is going to hit me like a TON OF BRICKS if this ends up falling into place.
By any chance, does your DH do consulting??

No, he works in the sales department at his company and they're global, so he could've been placed in the NY office, but he'll get better opportunities in the future for being on a traveling sales team, so we'll see
BUT YES! Totally down with mani/pedis and dinners! I feel like I need to be putting more things on my calendar to keep me occupied

Re: Anyone's DH travel often for work?
I used to be the one traveling for work (I'm in consulting, just been lucky working in NYC recnetly) leaving DH home for weeks at a time. He took it as an opportunity to catch up on reading and sleep!DH is now going to school in the evenings and I'm the one with time on my hands so I read more, go to the gym or meet up with friends on nights he has class, and I took up knitting! Try to take up a new crafty project--it really helps!

Any chance your DH goes to NYU? For some reason I vaguely remember someone mentioning that their DH was starting soon.....

Correct, he started at NYU in February! I've never seen him so focused and motivated (currently sitting next to me doing his accounting homework with me on standby for any tough questions).

Nice! He definitely likes the program so far but its all so new. He usually goes to the keg parties on Thursdays after class--maybe you'll recognize him! Good luck in the last semester!
