Birthday gift

Hi Ladies: Any ideas for a 40th birthday gift for my husband? I'm totally lost for something nice. Did the watch, clothes stuff. I want something special.

How about a Surprise party?

My FH's 40th is next May (we'll be married 7 months). I'm already thinking of where to have his surprise 40th! He loves boating so it will most likely on a boat. Not that I've even finished planning my wedding yet... Good luck!

How about a Surprise party?

Good Idea and already went through that, but my in-laws (sisters) and his parents aren't up for a big thing, so we decided on a dinner with 15 people at Gasho with gifts, etc. I could do another party without them, but it doesn't make sense since they will all be here on his birthday weekend. These are the things you have to deal with when it comes to in-laws. It should have been no big deal, butttt... I'm keeping the peace.

Kate, if you're interested in a simple getaway....

I took Paul away to this place for his 30th weekend. Its about a 3-4 hour drive from LI, just north of New Milford, CT and near Kent (which has lots of neat shops and a park). The B&B was absolutely wonderful - more than we could have ever asked for. The restaurant was fabulous. I'd go back again in a heartbeat. Here's the web link: http://www.bouldersinn.com/ If you want more info, email me directly at [email protected]

Karen G....

I'm not a Newlywed (yet) but this is not wedding related! I looked at the site for Boulders Inn and it looks beautiful! I'm taking my FI away for 2 nights this May for his 39th birthday. I was thinking of Foxwoods casino but this looks sooooo relaxing (which is what I need) LOL. Could you tell me if they have any fishing/boating nearby? What time of year did you go? The quaint shops will work for me but not him! Thanks so much! Kathi

Karen G....

We went late April. There is a lake right across from the Inn - Lake Waramaug (sp?). There chairs by the lake and I believe some people have boats. There is a hiking trail right behind the Inn...and a national park in Kent with a big waterfall and a larger hiking trail. I believe the Inn also has bicycles for rentals. We spent most of the first day walking around the grounds, relaxing and napping. We at dinner at the Inn the first night (the MAP plan) which was excellent. The second day we visited Kent, saw the park and then went to town. We didn't visit the little shops either but we did have lunch there. We had dinner the second night a a place called Oliva just down the road from the Inn. Zagat rated high. Very casual but excellent food. BTW, we stayed in one of the rooms in the house overlooking the lake. It was really nice with a large seating area in the room. I hope this helps.

Thanks Karen

I'm so stuck. He can't get the days off. He is in retail of Jet Skis and Motorcycles. Therefore, he can't take vacation between March and October. I was taking him to the Canyon, but we couldn't get the time off for him. UGH!
