bottoms (as in pants)

so i know it's stylish to wear skinny jeans ... but i can never find a pair that fits me cause of my big bum.

the only thing that works for me is my old, loose, bootleg cut jeans (which are nice but totally outdated by now)

how do you find pants that fit right? or should i just give up and wear skirts 24/7 (DH would totally approve)

Re: bottoms (as in pants)

the key is to try and try and try again!

i've found that no two jeans are the same. I've actually gone to buy the same cut from the same designer and I've found the fit to be slightly different.

brands like citizens of humanity and hudson have tons of cuts...

...dedicate a couple of hours (i know, so much easier said than done) go to a store like bloomies and try A BUNCH on!!

With the exception of white jeans, I rarely wear jeans in the spring/summer months...I LOVE skirts and shorts so I wouldn't be opposed to skirts 24/7!

uch i HATE pants shopping ... i can barely spend one hour in a department store ... especially to try on pants!

leaning towards investing in skirts

Re: bottoms (as in pants)

it sounds super annoying, but getting things altered is key. i used to hate to do this but i lost a bunch of weight a couple years ago and had all these awesome pants i wanted to keep so i got them taken in.

find a pair of skinny jeans that are big around the waist but fit the bum area and get them altered! also, straight leg and slightly flared arent outdated, just try getting a slightly newer wash, like a dark or black wash.

i also live in cargo pants/skinny cargos a lot. they have more give then jeans so that can help if you have one troublesome area. old navy has great ones, and so does banana republic.

HTH!

Re: bottoms (as in pants)

huge bellbottoms (think 70s) are extremely in right now. Have you tried any of those?

Also try J brand jeans. They are really the only jeans I wear these days. I love the fit and they great washes, and so many different styles.

I agree with Mer about getting things tailored. Its rare i buy anything without having to bring it to the tailor first.
