Social Security -- In Person
I went in person because I didn't want to send my original marriage certificate. They just looked at it for verification -- didn't keep anything. Very easy -- I should get a new card in the mail in 2 weeks!

Social Security -- In Person
That's good news - I'm not comfortable sending the original through the mail...thanks! I guess you need to change that before anything else, like DMV?

Social Security & DMV
One has nothing to do with the other. SS change is only really related to your SS benefits. DMV was actually rather easy. It cost $3 to get a new license, just bring your original marriage certificate with you. A suggestion: If you have car registration in your maiden name, you might want to change it the same day and save yourself an extra trip. I didn`t even think of this when I went to change my license. I just changed car insurance companies last week and I have to make another trip so the car is registered and insured under the same name.Welcome New Vendors
