event space

what are your thoughts on...

an event space (think smaller scale events not weddings) that is very customizable.

It would offer 2 'backdrop' options (contemporary or classic/traditional) or a blank white loft-like clean slate...

Customized arrangment (tables/chairs or cocktail party setting)

There is a basic kitchen for prep/reheating but all food would be catered in and arranged by you

In house service staff and a maitre d

Valet parking available upon request

Everything else in the way of decor can be customized by the client.

What events would you consider holding in a space like this?

What additional features would you like?

Re: event space

What about alcohol? Provided? Or supplied by the client?

I think it's great. This is precisely the kind of space my mom was looking for for my shower and you'd be amazed at how hard it was to find. All VFW halls make you use their alcohol which is exactly what my mom didn't want.

You would provide your own alcohol!

I can imagine how hard it was because I've looked for spaces like this as well. Target events would be showers, e-parties, birthday dinners, anniversaries, corporate meals, wine tastings, book signings, etc etc

There would be a flat rental fee with variable add on costs (for example, valet parking)

EXCELLENT! Please send along any thoughts you may have like neat or creative features. I am going to put together a business plan and budget for a class at school. I want to keep the cost down and set the rental price by hour. I also want to make it very competitive against private rooms at restaurants and vfw halls, etc

Nice. I'll definitely ask my mom though I think the big issues were a kitchen and bringing in your own alcohol. Good luck!!

Re: event space

i think it sounds great. a key aspect will also be what is included in the fees

i have look at some KOC halls where its 500 to rent, then you still need to pay extra if you want valet, etc etc

are linens provided? flatware? plates?

if these types of amenities are included where all you need to do is focus on catering/drinks and simple decor, i think it would be great

also. if this is a new place you are envisioning, build in a speaker system now! that could be a very useful feature to entice parties

and grt comment abt the speaker system. look into a TV and DVD. we always have issues for these parties of where to put our DVD bday congrats

also something to consider is, and I dont know if it applies to ur project, is the marketing costs of getting the word out there
