Greenport ? (north fork)

I think we have decided to avoid the Hamptons for now, since the prices are outrageous, a friend of hubby told him Greenport is nice to visit (I believe north fork).. Has anyone been to Greenport or surrounding areas? Thanks!

I got engaged in Greenport, and we go back at least twice a year. I spent all of my summers in the Hamptons as a child, but I must admit, I love the North Fork better, you can tour all the vinyards and just stroll through the town. We stay at the Soundview Inn.
