i feel liberated!

i hawk my credit report webiste the first week of every month...and...my score went up again for the third month in a row!

i wish i discovered how liberating and amazing this progress would feel - i would have financially reformed years ago had i known!

this is such an addiction and i feel really proud!

sorry to pat myself on the back but i just feel really good....

Re: i feel liberated!

thats amazing! my husband has been going through the process of building up his credit score and it has improved exponentially from where it was 2 years ago - he's super excited to see the transformation too, and that he can still spend money & have fun while saving and being in a better place financially!

great job!

It actually wasn't really low when I started this project but when we started talking about buying a house I realized it wasn't where I needed/wanted it to be.

In my early 20s I was just careless and had late payments and several credit cards...minor stuff...but it really dinged my score.

I bank with USAA (my dad went to the naval academy so my whole family has access) and I used a credit check monitoring system with the 3 major credit boroughs through them. It is a really comprehensive website and they offer tons of features. I get to see where I am ranked against the nation which provides a lot of insight about the type of loan we will be able to get.

Re: i feel liberated!

Seriously -- I think they need to have classes in high school for kids about how important credit is.

IT IS SO DANGEROUS TO RUIN YOUR CREDIT.

DH's is terrible. Mine's pretty good. We're working on his.

One of my classmates did a presentation on a study he had published on his analysis of US credit literacy and the results were scary.

I totally agree - there absolutely needs to be a more formal approach towards teaching kids about credit.
