Jeopardy girls

DH and I watched last night ...

we laughed so hard when Watson guessed the same answer as Ken Jennings and Alex T said 'no .... Ken just guessed that!'

i want Watson to win ... though it prob means the Robot Apocalypse is on the way

oohhhhh crappola we forgot to watch! i got in from school at 9:30 and DH taped it for us but we just totally forgot! was it fun!?!

DH and I enjoyed it

it was just the first round of Jeopardy (double jeopardy is tonight) ... they put in a lot of BS about how Watson works and how 'he' was created and whatnot (though i'm a nerd so i totally loved that they told us)

it was interesting...i'm not sure how i felt about it. at first i was like 'geez watson is super fast this is almost unfair...' but then it evened out a bit

but yes, when alex was like 'ken just said that' and 5 mins earlier he had explained to the audience that watson can't 'hear'...so i was like well how is watson supposed to know that ken just said that?

yeah, i was reading an article about that earlier .... you can't buzz in until after Alex finishes reading the clue. A human can hear the clue so he can time buzzing in ... but the computer just gets a signal of sorts when it's time so there's technically a slight disadvantage.

either way - as a computer person, i find it extremely really cool that it works (even if it's not perfect yet)

we watched and I laughed at the same part! I do not want Watson to win! Ken never has any time to buzz in. the computer is so quick

the watson lab is up in Somers (northern Westchester) and DH's bro/SIL live right down the road from where watson was 'born' cool, huh???

they're nowhere near thinking ... Watson is kind of like a fancy search engine at this point.
