Poll: 1st Anniversary Trips

For those that have passed and those coming up, have you taken/are you taking an elaborate vacation to celebrate your 1 yr anniversary? DH and I are going big and spending a week in Monaco and Paris. Wondering if we are going overboard.

Wow. Hey if you have the time and money to get to Europe do it.

When you are in Monaco, take the train to Nice. It is probably about a half hour and Nice is amazing!!!! Monaco really has very little to look at. If you are spending a whole day there take the train.

Along that train route you also have Antibes and San Tropez.

We are actually going to do a day trip along the riviera from Monaco to Cannes so we are hitting Antibes on the way. We are staying in Nice the night before we fly to Paris so we will definitely check it out. Thanks!!

My DH thinks driving 40 mins to get dinner is a vacation. So more than likely, we won't be going anywhere.

We spent a night in NYC and went out for an amazing dinner, went to the Philharmonic, and went shopping at Bloomies for presents. This year we went to Napa for a long weekend and got wasted all day everyday. Next year we plan to go to Hawaii.

The Hotel Negresco is amazing for dinner. Expensive but amazing.

we arent doing something big and extravagant... just OC, MD... were looking for a pet friendly place so we can bring Jessie with us!

i don't think you are going overboard at all. DH and i take two big trips a year.

we're going to Peru in May and than Hawaii in the fall for our 1st anniversary.

btw, i went to the french riviera a few years ago. if you are going from monaco to nice, stop off in ville french. it's a cute little town with some nice places to have wine by the water.

we just decided to start planning a long weekend to the caribbean...maybe like 5 nights!!

other than that, the idea of having a backyard with a bbq sounds like the best vacation ever as far as i'm concerned!!! we want to buy a house like asap so no HUGE trips for us in the forseeable future...and i am totally down with this!

we are going to Italy but if we didnt do that, i think we wouldve had a really nice dinner out and then gone away for the weekend someplace

My parents are taking us on a cruise on the Allure of the Seas for a week in August...celebrating our 1st and their 40th. My grandparents and a couple of family friends are going...we're really excited!!

DH and I are going to Hawaii in 2 weeks (yay!) to escape the cold NY weather and we're hoping to take a week long trip to Italy for our 1 year anniversary! I'm hoping we'll build up some of his starwood hotel points from all the traveling he's doing for work to mitigate some of the expense on the hotel

we're actually going to be in new orleans for a friend's wedding the weekend of our 1 year anniversary, and then i'm hoping to go to argentina (where DH's family is from) next december

We're going to London but we're only paying for food and anything we do over there. He won a trip through a client at his job.

If he didn't win that I still would want to go somewhere for a few days. We figured since our anniversary within 2 months of his bday, 2 months of my bday, 3 months before christmas, and 5 months before vday that gifts might be a silly thing to do. We're going to attempt to take trips on each anniversary, even if it's just a weekend thing.

I say if you can afford it (time and $) then why not?
