So what was everyones One thing that happened..

I'm curious to know if anyone had it worse than me.

I went for my final fitting 16 days before the wedding/12 days before leaving for NY. When I pulled up in front of the bridal shop it was boarded up. Apparently, the shop closed a week before and it was on the news, and it was broken into twice, buy angry brides. I could not believe it.

So my husband went to the shop and found the owners name and address on the window. An ex-employee posted it. My hubby took a chance and went there. The guy was shocked, and said he would look for my dress, headpiece and veil. But it may have already been stolen. He was of no help. We called the news stations, the police, did everything we could, but no dress.

So what was everyones One thing that happened.

The entire week prior was life in hell. We went over to the hall two Friday's before and everything was in order (actually the accountant screwed up and the bill was $1500.00 less than it should of been, but me being the nice guy, I corrected them on the error). The following Wednesday, three days before my affair, my dad and I went over to drop everything off (favors, ladies room baskets, matches, etc.). I almost had a stroke! They tore up the entire main foyer and hallway leading to my room and they were in the process of remodeling. I was soo angry, I thought I would stab someone! I called my fiance and he flew over there and blew up all over the manager. Bob drove over there every single day (even on our wedding day) to make sure that things would be to rights before our affair. They were still painting the morning of our wedding. Everything was as it should have been, but who needed that stress for three days? Also, I was informed during the cocktail hour that my matches were missing. I searched all the boxes and bags myself and yes, they were gone. As well as most of the items from the ladies room basket. Obviously the staff at Imperial Manor (I don't mind mentioning names) can't be trusted. I also didn't get back after the affair all the glass votives I bought for the tables. We're only talking about dollars and cents things but still, I was pissed. On my wedding day, I got a different DJ and Video guy than who I had contracted for (believe me, I bitched about that). Alot of people didn't show even though they said they would come (which happens to everyone). One guest in particular really pissed me off by not showing. Bob's 'good friend' from PA always cries poor, so he offered to pay for her room at the Days Inn. She guaranteed him she'd be at the wedding, and even though I was upset that he was paying for her room (no one else got that offer), I couldn't say much about it. He prepaid for the room the night before. The day of, he called the hotel to see if she checked in and they told him that she and her guest had cancelled. So he called up to PA to find out why they weren't coming. Her boyfriend told Bob that they had a fight and she went to her mother's for the day. Bob was furious. When he told me after the ceremony that she didn't show up, I wasn't suprised. But we were out at least 1/2 of the money for the room AND the cost of their plates, favors, etc. No one used it because prior arrangements had been made elsewhere. Her excuse? They got into a fight about what they were going to wear, he said he wasn't going and she decided to spend the day with her mother, shopping at Flea Markets instead. She never even attempted to make it down here. She could have come with anyone other than her boyfriend, and she knew that a gift wasn't necessary. She did find the money a few weeks later to take a nice vacation to Florida and she coughed up the $0.33 to send us a letter explaining herself and to yell at Bob for being so rude to her boyfriend on the phone that day! So all in all, alot of 'bad' things happened that week/day. There's more, but I don't think you all need the encyclopedia version of the wedding disasters of Sharon E. Bachmann. My life seems to be one big 'Murphy's Law' event anyway, so I wasn't expecting miracles! Poop happens!

So what was everyones One thing that happened.

Well My husbands (former)best friend decided 3 weeks before the wedding that he had to work on our wedding day, so we were out one usher. Thankfully he has a great group of friends and we picked up one where we lost one. One week later, my best friend from college decided that she couldn't afford to be in the wedding(2 weeks before the wedding) and dropped. Thankfully I have a great group of friend and my friend filled in ( 3 sizes smaller but the seamstress worked her wonders) Other than that loss of two what we considered best friends the rest went fairly smooth. Until that day: we got to the church and my priest came in my limo to give a final single prayer to me. Well I get out of the limo, music starts my mom goes down the aisle, my friend turns around to smile at me and say good luck, but instead looks at the middle of my dress and says'HOLY SH**!!! YOU HAVE A HUGE STAIN ON YOUR DRESS!!!!' Ladies, huge was not the word, enormous! It was the size of my head and black! My priest apparently stepped on my dress and left a shoe polish stain on my dress. I responded by folding my dress over with my hands and bouquet and looked at my dad and said 'FU** IT, I AM GETTING MARRIED!' and I walked down the aisle with the stupid smile on my face hoping no one would see the big old stain! When we arrived at the Crescent Beach Club, my bridal attendant asked what she could do for me and I said get this stain out, SHE DID!!! She had a special dry cleaner fluid that gets out shoe polish and baby stains and you would never know that it existed! That is my thing!!

So my husband went to the shop and found the owners name and address on the window. An ex-employee posted it. My hubby took a chance and went there. The guy was shocked, and said he would look for my dress, headpiece and veil. But it may have already been stolen. He was of no help. So what was everyones One thing that happened.

Our wedding day went absolutely perfect BUT our honeymoon plane ride was another story. I took us 24 hours to get to Hawaii(normally it's supposed to be 12 hours). Midflight we took a diving plunge, they said it was about 6 thousand feet and everyone screamed and honestly I thought we were gonna die. We made 2 emergency landings and finally arrived a full day later--thank goodness for different timezones, it was still the same day in Hawaii(barely). So besides for almost dying everything went pretty good LOL!!!

So what was everyones One thing that happened.

We had a few 'things.'

First we got married last September on the weekend of Hurricane Floyd. It could have been much worse, but the stress beforehand was pretty bad. The storm hit us the hardest on Thursday - I got married on Saturday. The bridal store left messages at my house saying they were closing at 1:00 and to come get my dress before then (I was out running around) so of course I panicked when I came home and heard those messages thinking the worse that the store wouldn't open up on Friday and I'd have no wedding dress.

Thursday night was also the night of my rehearsel at the church. Four bridesmaids and two ushers were coming in from out of town. Only one made it. So my rehearsel consisted of me, my husband, MOH, BM, 1 usher and 1 bridesmaid and our parents. No harm done, but not how we imagined it. And thank God our rehearsel dinner was Friday night!

I know this is an topic...but I'm new here!! :-)

I guess it's true...it's always something huh? Well exactly 2 weeks before my wedding I had my final fittng appointment. The place I had to go to is 3 hours away in Pennsylvania. My appt was for 11am so I was up early and on the road by 8am with my sister and her 1 yr old daughter. When I woke up with the right side of my face swollen and in PAIN I should have known it was going to be a bad day. After a 3 hour car ride I get to Bridaltown where my appointment was to find out that my dress had not even been worked on yet. That due to some clerical error it was overlooked and not ready. They wanted to know if I could come back another time. Well after loosing my mind in the place and letting them know that with 2 weeks to go that there was not a chance of me making that 3 hour drive again between then and my wedding. They then asked me to come back at 5 pm. I lost my mind again! They said ok how bout 3-3:30 pm. I was not happy but I really had no other choice. So my sister, the baby and myself headed to a nearby mall to kill a few hours. I called he store at 3:30 pm to find out it still was not ready to try again in another 30 minutes. Well finally at 4:30 it was ready. I picked it up and everything was fine. Whew!! Well I was still in pain from my swollen face which after going to the dentist on Monday morning I was 3 less teeth. YES I HAD 3 TEETH PULLED MONDAY MORNING!!! All 3 next to each other in the back of my mouth. I was so upset I couldn't help but cry most of the day with a big gaping hole in the back of my mouth filled with blood and gauze. Fun huh? Well you might think this is enough for one person...but noooooo! The day before the wedding Joseph goes to pick up his tux. When we ordered his tux we ordered 2 ties and vests. He wanted Looney Tunes but I didn't want him wearing Looney Tunes for the ceremony. So we compromised. White vest and tie for ceremony and Looney tunes for reception. Well he goes to pick them up and the guy forgets his white tie and vest. Says he didn't remember we wanted both. I WENT NUTS. I kept telling Joe he beter have white on or I wouldn't marry him! Hehehe. But I really wanted him in white. The morning of the wedding one of the ushers had to go to the place to pick up his whites!! All in all it was a beautiful day and everything was FABULOUS!!! Guess that's what it's all about!!

Best bet is to go as soon as you can!
