I thought this whole thing was a joke by someone we knew, and I have a feeling it's not.

'I should have your information by 3pm East coast time. My investigators have already linked your IP address to an address in Lake Grove, New York. We should have your address shortly and will be cross referencing that information with various cell phone providers and will have your number shortly. I plan on calling you this afternoon to hammer out a deal. Be expecting my call. If your brother in law has legal representation, I suggest you arrange for that person to be on the call as well. In the meantime, I suggest strongly that you stop sending me sarcastic emails. No -- I am not interested in your other brother in law. I also take it from your snide tone that you would not be interested in joining me, George and your brother in law when we conduct the screen test. That is your loss (not 'lost' as you incorrectly put it below). You picked the wrong talent manager to mess with, lady. This will be my last written communication to you. I can only suffer fools for so long and then I get tired of it. Expect my call.

I told my husband to call his bros and tell them this is a step too far, it's raising an eyebrow, and I feel like I should call the police. Spoke to both of them, and they are swearing up and down they know nothing, and Derek promises whenever they've played pranks and police were going to get involved they came immediately clean.

What Should I do?

Call the police. Who are these people investigating you. Tracing your email to an address. Doesn't sound very normal to me.

I would just ignore the emails going forward. If this person has hired a personal investigator to find people out why go through you - they should find your brother in law.

Or you could write them back just saying to cease and desist.

I say either (1) ignore them completely, hoping that it is someone just playing a prank, or (2) if it continues, then call the police on them.

I figured out how to block them on youtube - i never had an account on there so I didn't know you could do that. lets see if they'll call or go out of there way to create another account.

i have some small inkling it's someone from my brother in law's job, and he doesn't know about it. i do know they have a location in california and one in new york....systems software...or something? I don't remember the name of his company. I'd have to find out. actually, it might be Imagine Software?????

i told my husband i would call the police as a tactic to get his brothers to confess - i can't really do anything because there's no threat. if they call, it's something but im not gonna go by some moron hiding by a machine.

A few things I would do-

1) Take down the video right now
2) have no more communication with this nut case- ignore anymore e-mails.
3) If anyone calls you and you have caller i-d and dont recognize the number let it go to voice mail. Let them leave a message so you have a record of the call.
4)Call the police and find out where you can report this

This is really getting crazy!

well, a while ago, youtube and gmail decided to come together, so my account name got changed from 'catmom1120' to 'jessicalcozza', my name is my regular email, i did it for professional reasons when I was still working and still use the email. so i guess I can thank youtube for that one.
