'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

Sooooo, I used to subscribe to Cosmo but since they haven't come out with any new, ground breaking ways to please my man in the past 15 years, I stopped getting it. I still get an e-mail with highlights from the upcoming issue though. In today's e-mail, they had an article called 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know (Even Now)'. Click me for the article! It's about pre-wedding stuff that the brides never told their groom- it ranges from silly things like a nervous breakdown in the car before the rehearsal to banging the priest after the bride's bachelorette party. But it got me wondering... was there anything that happened during the wedding planning process that you'll never tell your groom?

For me, I'd never tell him that I was NOT happy with Jericho Terrace when we booked. It had none of the things I wanted and I was not pleased in the least. But I put on a brave face because DH loved the place so damn much. Turns out, I would've been eating my words anyway because I came to LOVE JT. What about you?

Re: 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

I hate my wedding band. I got it because it was cheap for DH, the one I wanted was a grand.

And I was also not thrilled about our rehearsal dinner. I didn't like the place at all and I hated the fact that his mother made it all assigned seating for 24 people.

i can't think of anything that DH doesn't know about our wedding ... if that changes, you guys'll be first to know

Re: 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

I was pretty vocal and a lot of the wedding stuff.

Like you Jill, I wasn't happy with the RH we chose (at first), but I knew it was a good choice, it just seemed a little gold to me. Anyway, as time went on and I saw our room in different lights/settings, I started to get really happy and I knew we made the right choice.

There is one thing DH doesn't know though. While he knows I did BPics twice, he thinks the first time was a freebie. He would have flipped if I spent $500 the first time and even more the 2nd time.

OMG! I totally forgot about that, too. DH thought my b-pics were a freebie, too. Well, the second time was, but he thought the first time was, too! I'm not telling!

Re: 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

i'm gonna read them now.

but i dont think there's anything that DH doesn't know. I tell him EVERYTHING. granted I might have spent a little extra $$ here and there.. but nothing major.

this made me

Break a Leg
“I had a Bridezilla-style meltdown in the parking lot of the church right before the wedding rehearsal. Usually, I’m laid-back, but I was exhausted from doing all the planning, I hadn’t slept, I was sick of family members asking me dumb questions, and my husband-to-be seemed completely clueless that I was overwhelmed. So I started crying by myself in the car. “He walked over, knocked on the window, and asked me what was wrong. I didn’t want to seem like a whiner, so I lied and told him, ‘I think I sprained my ankle.’ I got out of the car and limped toward the church. Of course, the limp magically disappeared as soon as I walked inside, and he got so swept up in the events that he forgot all about it.” —Tori, 35

Re: 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

DH doesn't know exactly how much we paid foe the wedding. I paid for a lot of stuff on our credit cards over time. He wasn't paying too mnuch attention to the bill. Then later he would ask me how much things cost and I would totally knock a lot of $$ off of things. woops.

Re: 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

DH left a lottt of the financial stuff to me. It's not that I hid it from him, I would've gladly shared it...but he didn't really care to know most of the time (which was probably better for him in the end!)

Re: 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

DH doesn't know that I'm not entirely happy with our wedding song...

At first it was set in stone: 'You and Me' - Dave Matthews Band. But then I got all worried about it being awkward to dance to so we were contemplating switching it, spending night after night going through song after song and not agreeing. Finally he suggested 'Wonderful Tonight' - Eric Clapton, which is a beautiful song. I really enjoyed dancing to it. It was my parents wedding song...

Aaaaaaaaand my mom told me that she and my dad were separating one week after we got home from our honeymoon. So now when I think of our wedding song, I think of how my parents 28 year marriage is no more

Re: 'Stuff the Groom Doesn't Know'

He had no idea about anything that had to do with the wedding, I would tell him how much the vendors were but he wouldn't remember, he just showed up the day of and everything was a surprise to him. He just knew that throughout the process he was giving me money for stuff for the wedding but had no clue.

He has no idea how much I paid for his grooms cake or for b-pics
