Taxes - Sigh

Any other non-homeowner newlyweds (besides me) get slammed on taxes this year? If we're going to be slammed for being married then we should be able to deduct the wedding!

I guess we better enjoy this year's refunds...

..because I know we won't have children or own our own home until at least next year (hopefully then). I can't believe there's no way to avoid it, it seems so unfair.

Taxes - Sigh

I warned you!!! I only got married in December and I was slammed. I can't wait (hahaha) to see how it is next year!! I wish I could get a house now, just to write off the taxes, BUT that's impossible after being laid off on Friday!! My mother's friend, an accountant, had said there might be a new bill next year to help married peolpe. I guess they've come to realize that married people are hit the hardest.

I'm so sorry to hear about your job. :( I hope you're OK. My friend works for a Congresswoman in DC. She's been keeping me apprised of their efforts to remove the marriage 'penalty'. Hopefully it will pass by next year!

If you can, meet with a tax planner and have them help you project out what you might owe so you can plan accordingly. My bill is taking 5 months of house savings out of my account. I'm furious...and depressed. After the 15th we're going to meet with a planner immediately!

Thanks, we are getting by, but it puts our saving for a house on hold. Now I just have to get into the grind of looking and all that fun stuff. At least now I can do somethings that I have been neglecting. I can't wait for that law to take place either!!
