the nosey bank teller
This has been bothering me for awhile but I haven't vented about it and I need to get it out.A girl that I went to HS with works at the bank I go to. We were never friends...more of the opposite actually. We make small talk at the bank.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I was cashing the NW luncheon checks and she asked what 'NW Luncheon' meant in the memo. I felt weird explaining it to her...and kind of angry because whats it her buisness?
Then I thought about how I bring my paychecks there and she can see my bank account...and the thought just makes me uncomfortable. I dont want her commenting on the amount of money I have or make.
Am I being paranoid? (I'll answer my own question- probably!)- not that she'll steal my info just that she's judging me or will make comments.
Was it okay of her to ask what the memo meant on the checks I was cashing? I think it was more of her being nosey than a bank policy...which annoyed me.
Tell me if I'm being irrational or not.

Re: the nosey bank teller
That. would. annoy. me.Especially if we weren't friends in HS. Small talk is one thing, but asking about what's written on checks is a whole other thing. IMO, it's kind of overstepping boundaries.
One time a teller did something like that to me, but she was just a friendly teller, no one I knew.
My Dad gave me some money for the wedding. He went to to bank and made the transfer into his checking account. He gave me the check later that day and we go to the same bank so I went there like a day later and deposited it. The teller was like, 'So YOU'RE the one getting married!' I was a little taken aback, but Dad must have been chatting with them about it, so I laughed, but yeah, it's a little weird.

Re: the nosey bank teller
Yeah, I mean if it were any other bank teller, they wouldn't have asked. I would've been annoyed, too, especially since you weren't her number one fan to begin with. And I also wouldn't like her having access to my money- that was my FIRST thought once I saw you weren't friends in HS. Not that I think anything would happen to your money, but more the judging.

Re: the nosey bank teller
i would go to a different branch of that bank so that I would not have to deal with it. I wouldn't want her or anyone knowing the inner workings of my bank accounts.Thats why i love the atm... it never judges.

Re: the nosey bank teller
I personally get weird when people try to put their nose in my finances. I don't like it.. I don't appreciate it.. and I would say something! There is nothing more uncomfortable (for me).. then people knowing about my finances!!! It's non of their business!!!
That being said.. I wouldn't go back to that branch because she's overstepping her bounderies as a teller by asking you Personal questions!

Re: the nosey bank teller
That would make me feel totally uncomfortable. I would prob go to a dif bank just so I wouldn't have to see her. I wouldn't want ANYone from HS seeing my bank info. That's none of their business how much I make/what I have/etc and who knows who's gossiping about what.

Re: the nosey bank teller
this reminded me of a time i went to cash a check. i used to be a promo chick...and 1 gig we were called the 'smooth operators'.. it was for a beer..it was a pretttttty sweet check..
but uhm yea... SMOOTH OPERATORS on the memo made the guy at the bank asked me what exactly it was that i do.
i told him its NOT what he thinks it is.
i had the agency change that soo fast lol
