Travel Agent Reccomendations

So a while back, I had mentioned that we were looking into planning a trip to Italy. Well... we're doing it! I requested the time off from work and have already started looking into travel, hotes, etc.

We've never worked with a travel agent before and thought since neither of us had been to Italy before, it may help to go through one. I contact the only agent I could find that is somewhat in our area in Queens. I have a general idea of flight prices and hotel prices.

Is there anything I should be asking them? Should I look into other agencies to see if they can provide better pricing?? Anyone have another agent they can reccomend?
