What do you consider middle age?

Yesterday, I had a student say to me that 29 is middle aged. I never thought of myself as being middle aged in 5 years. What do you consider to be middle aged?

ETA: This student was about 19/20 years old.

how is 29 middle aged... this isnt the 1600s peoples life expectancy is well beyond 60 years old....

id consider 50s middle aged

I just looked it up. Median life expectancy for U.S.

78.3

So 39 or 40 -- middle age.

Some of you aren't TOO far away.

i don't think 29 is middle age at all.
i would say 45-50 is middle age
