what to do, what to do...

So last night in class, my professor announced that the final exam was optional. He told everyone their grades as they stand without the final and I am currently getting a B+. I can't do worse...he clarified that the grade he gave us is the 'lower bound'.....so even if I bomb the final, I won't get lower than a B+.

I am VERY tempted not to take the final...but is that just straight lazy?

The material is very difficult and I'm not sure I would be able to get a score that would push my grade to an A-.

Thing is, I got a B- in a class I took during the first half of this semester. (I had to miss a class session bc of work and I missed an in-class exercise that was 30%of my grade).

What should I do?!

Re: what to do, what to do...

The lazy me says don't do it..... .

But then you've put forth the effort already...so what does it hurt to take the test and possibly get a better grade.... So I say take it.

Re: what to do, what to do...

take the final. you're better than skipping out on it.

if it can't hurt to not take it then it can ONLY hurt to NOT take it.

Re: what to do, what to do...

I would take it...up until last night, you were thinking that you were going to have to take it anyway. And it's really a win-win situation...you know you can't go lower than where you are now, but you can go higher.

I would just pretend he didn't say anything and try to do my best on the exam.

Re: what to do, what to do...

Do you have time to study for the test? Are there other projects you are working on that would get in the way of studying for it? If skipping it doesnt affect your grade and this is your last year then skip it. I dont think he will view it as lazy. Obv youve put in the work to be getting a B+ ..

Re: what to do, what to do...

depends how much material you'd need to study ... if you're going to be up 24/7 studying, then don't take it ...

i'm a teacher's pet so i'd almost definitely take it though.
