You did the right thing... how does a parent do that (leaving her) if he obviously knows that she has some issues going on.I'm so sorry you were put in that situation - I hope the LL says something to you soon about this

totally agree. You shouldn't have to take responsibility for someone you barely even know.

You DEF did the right thing! There is NO WAY I would have taken in that girl. G-dforbid I was out (like you were) and she was smoking pot in MY apartment! Then I'm in trouble! The parents should know better then to leavea 16 year old home alone (against the law)!
You tried to make contact with him so hopefully he'll make contact with you and APOLOGIZE for his actions, as well as his daughters.

Re: What would you have done? (I am sorry, its ridiculously long)
i agree with the rest ... i totally would not have taken her in either. That's not your job, not your responsibility and TOTALLY unacceptable for the landlords to ask you in the first place! What if she got into even more trouble?! then it would've been on YOU guys!
Her parents are insane for leaving her all alone knowing she's got issues!
(hugs because i feel bad you have to deal with this stupid drama):
