which day has less traffic?

I'm driving down to philadelphia on July 4th weekend ... i can either leave friday or saturday mornings and returning to NY the same day)

which day do you think would have better traffic? It's a long weekend for most people (monday off) so i don't know ...

we went a bunch of times to PA on 4th of July. or other long holiday weekends. best time is usually on Sat morning or very late Fri night.

I say go friday morning. Since it's a 3 day weekend, many people might save the extra vacation day and just go to work on the friday, so if you have the choice of going then or saturday, I would go friday!

I went down to the jersey shore early on the friday morning of memorial day weekend and it wasn't bad at all (around 1030am), so if the traffic is anything like it was then, you should be ok

*ETA: I missed the part about returning the same day... if that's the case I would probably do early saturday and then come home late saturday night (since most people will have hopefully arrived at their destinations by LATE)
