Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
I received my photog contract - After the wedding, I am only getting a NON-retouched photo cd of all the wedding images. The only retouched photos will be those in my album and the prints that I am ordering as part of my package. Is it unusual that I am not getting a re-touched photo cd? I can order retouched photos a-la-carte through the photog, or can Photoshop the CD images myself at a later date.
I want to make sure that I am getting what I am paying for before signing any contract...
Any advice?

Re: Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
We paid extra for our photographer to retouch all our photos...otherwise we would have only gotten the photos in our album retouched and all the rest untouched on a CD

Re: Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
I think that's typical... There can be anwyehre from 600-1200 photos give or take depending on your photog, they don't usually touch them all up

Just wanted to be sure - I know someone who got a CD with 500 retouched photos in addition to all the raw pics.

That's what we received. We booked with Duet.

Everyone who we meet with only offered edited hi-res photos on DVD in their standard package. With the medium amount around 700 photos.

Re: Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
Our photographer is retouching or color correcting all the pictures for us and we're getting the hi-res version on a CD with full rights to them. She said we'll have anywhere around 1,000 pictures. I wanted to have access to the all the pics so I can print parent and grandparent albums separately

Our photographer is retouching all of our photos - and giving us a CD that includes (1) non-retouched, (2) slightly retouched, (3) very retouched.Personally, I would want all of the photos retouched.

If you don't feel 100% comfortable with the vendor and your having regrets if the person is decent they should be willing to send you your check back or rip it up. I think photography is one of the most important vendors so it should be someone that you feel great working with!

If this is something that is important to you... you should have a serious conversation with them and either work it into your price and contract or keep searching. It also depends on what you are paying. You haven't mentioned the price for the package you chose. Some of the girls who said ALL were retouched might have paid more money in general. Photography packages vary so ask your photographer... but make sure to see what people are paying. Some photogs have retouching worked into there bottom line prices.

Re: Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
Thank you - I appreciate the insight. It is important to me. The vendor is basically saying that they don't provide re-touches. It took them about 3 weeks to send me the contract from the time I left the deposit to hold the date....they do beautiful work and I was very impressed with their studio and quality....When I called today to discuss the terms of the contract, that's when they 'reminded' me that the CDs were not re-touched. And I've been torn thinking about it - isn't this a huge part of getting your photos professionally done?
My sales rep is in tomorrow - I will definitely have a one-on-one with him. I feel stupid for even making the deposit without letting this really seap in! Letting all this time pass from them sending me the contract....And now here I am in February, with a wedding in August....
I'm about to lose it....

This exactly. I mean, the unedited photos from our photog were still beautiful. They didn't need to be retouched but I feel like that's what gives them that WOW factor. It's all a matter of your budget and what's important to you! Good luck!

Re: Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
Just bear in mind that someone else won't edit another photographer's work and it's illegal to boot (not suggesting you would do this it's more of an FYI). If you truly want edited digital photos don't give up your search because there are plenty of photogs who will provide this. Some will do 'light editing' but since they have to edit your photos for your album and prints anyway, there's little benefit to them not giving them to you edited other than wanting to make more money. The reason digital images are SO expensive is because they don't want their high end work being printed on walgreens photo paper. I hope that makes sense. GOod luck and don't settle!

Re: Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
The only other thing I wanted to add is you mentioned you have a good rapport with the sales rep. I think you need to speak to the photographer. 'retouching' is subjective. Some will brighten your teeth and make you lose 10 pounds but it all comes at a cost. All your images should be lightly edited for basic elements like color correction, sharpness, lighting, etc. Good ones likely need to edit less but I'd make sure you see samples of 'unedited photos' and not just the pretty ones in the albums. If you want to email me at mswlisa at a o l (dot) com I can show you the difference between a photo that's raw and untouched versus an image that is lightly edited and then 'retouched'. I have our album and parents albums in our package but I wanted the digital images for canvases, prints, etc. I have a wholesale account with pro printers. Sure could I edit someone else's work but it wouldn't be right because then I'd be misrepresenting someone who is a pro which I am not. Aside from the groom, for me photography was the most important element.

Re: Help - No retouched photos after wedding?? =(
i think that's pretty standard. it would be a LOT of photos to retouch. if your photogs are good and set up good lighting, your photos should be great as is.Welcome New Vendors
