cleaning out a bunch of wedding stuff here are some of the poems we used with the gifts we gave folks at the wedding - maybe it helps someone

Thank you Mom for my special Day

After the wedding, when our loved ones have gone,
and the fragrance of flowers, has lingered til dawn.

When the last piece of cake, at the table is cut,
the lights have all dimmed, and the doors have been shut.

When everything is quiet, our memories made,
and each flower petal is starting to fade.

It's then in that moment, my thoughts will be free,
to think of how special, you've made this for me.

After the wedding, and all the years through,
this day will be special because of you.

You Are So Special

In life there are milestones, each rare and so sweet,
sharing with loved ones, makes them complete.

So having you near, on my wedding day,
you'll add to the meaning, in your special way.

I have looked forward, and also looked back,
so many times, you have kept me on track.

Again and again, you've come into view,
so today and forever, I'm grateful for you.

Thank you for bringing joy to my life.



Coming from Afar

We both would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
For sharing in our special day and coming from afar.

It means so very much to us that you would travel here.
To make the memory of this day one that we hold dear.

For more than just your presence will we cherish on this day.
It's knowing just how much you care in your special way.

The Uniting of Two

Goddess looks upon the uniting of two,
with love, care and guidance, and so she sent you.

As we stood before you, on our wedding day,
the words from your heart, would guide our way.

You've shared what it means, for husbands and wives,
to commit to each other, each day of their lives.

In the moment you asked us, to each say 'I do,'
Goddess' blessing was sent, for the uniting of two.

We now count our blessings, and start this new life,
your guidance goes with us, as husband and wife.

From Your Dog

At first I smelled him on your clothes... A strangers scent upon my nose.
One day you came in very late and then announced you had a date.

How sad for me my life was doomed, no more walks or being groomed!
And then a knock upon the door, my life would change forever more.

And just as all my senses ceased, I heard the jingle of a leash!
Those worried days are in my past, with dog years time goes very fast.

And now you say that you will wed. I've just one question 'bout the bed...
I understand he's yours to keep, but where, oh where, now will he sleep?

From Your Cat
As you Wed

At first I smelled him on your clothes... A strangers scent upon my nose.
Who is this man? I then asked, 'Will I now be a cat outcast?'

And then a knock upon the door, my life would change forever more.
You let him in, I watched you kiss, you didn't even hear me hiss.

You introduced him, said 'He's nice', I was just as cold as ice.
But then he scratched behind my ear, perhaps I'd been a bit severe.

And now you say that you will wed. I've just one question 'bout the bed...
I understand he's yours to keep, but where, oh where, now will he sleep?

I met you on your journey seemingly by chance,
I thought the draw was physical, perhaps it was romance?

But soon it was apparent that my heart was in for keeps.
Knowing that I'd found the one, who'd make my life complete.

I've found in you the very thing, my hearts been looking for...

We'll share our lives together, growing closer with each day.
Knowing that you're meant for me, in each and every way.

My Bridesmaid

On the day that I marry this wonderful man,
please carry this hanky in your hand.

This token of friendship from my heart to you,
is to thank you for being there when I say 'I do'.

It's meant so much to have you near,
so many things have changed this year.

The one thing on which I could always depend,
was an open ear from you my friend.

If there are tears on my wedding day,
this hanky will gently wipe them away.

Thank you for all the support that you lend,
but mostly I thank you for being my friend.

For My Maid of Honor

To ready for a wedding there's just so much to do,
from choosing bridesmaid's dresses, to finding something blue.

I see so very clearly, how this wedding's only one,
of the many times you've helped me, when things needed to be done.

Simply to say thank you, just doesn't seem to share,
the feelings here inside me, when I see how much you care.

You are so very special and my heart is grateful for
the friendship that we share and will be forevermore.

My Maid of Honor

Our friendship just gets better, through every passing year.
But it really has been this one, that I hold truly dear.

In helping with my wedding, and knowing you will be,
sharing in this day, by standing up for me.

You've taken something special, and added from your heart,
