Allegria- very expensive. Bridgeview- very affordable (and the food and ambiance is good!)I can't even afford to stay one night at the Allegria I've heard weddings are very pricey

Re: Allegria vs Bridgeview Yacht Club
Bridgeview Yacht Club was one of the very first places we looked at, but it was just too big for us. For a Saturday night wedding in December, we were quoted $110 per person and a minimum of 150 people. We just don't have the budget for that, and we have a relatively small guest list too, so it didn't work for us. It was a gorgeous place though, and of you have a large guest list, it's definitely a wonderful venue!

I checked out Bridgeview. I LOVED the ballroom, but I need an indoor ceremony space and didn't like that the ceremony and reception were in the same room and it was changed over during cocktail hour. That's just my preference, but the space itself was great! I haven't been to an event at the Allegria, but search through the chats for reviews. I remember reading some not so great things about it awhile back.

That is my exact worry about Allegria! WHen they opened they screwed over a lot of brides. Now I know they are doing renovations so I hope the same thing wouldn't happen again. I don't need the ceremony so that wouldn't be a problem. We go tuesday to BYC. My appt at Allegria is thursday. I am still unsure if I am going to keep it.

2013 bride crashing... I visited both and ended up booking with Bridgeview. The Allegria ballroom is TINY compared to Bridgeview. Not sure how many people you are having but I personally think anything over 150 would be tight in the Allegria (they claim it can seat up to 200 but I find that hard to believe). The space there is gorgeous and modern but I wasn't crazy about the setup in addition to them not being able to accommodate our party size. We did decide to do our hotel block there and so far no problems with that. FM me if you have any more specific questions about either, I am happy to help!

I had a friend who worked at the Allegria who shared so many horrible stories about them screwing brides over that it just turned me off to them. But maybe they got their act together by then.

This is my worry exactly. I think I may cancel my appt with them. Plus I think it may be too small for our guest list.

I was just at the Allegria for a little engagement celebration with my friends last night. I live in Long Beach, so I'm very familiar with the devastation Sandy caused. I am also familiar with all of the work businesses have been doing to get back up and running. I will tell you that walking into the Allegria last night made me feel like the hurricane just hit last week. The entire first floor/lobby/reception is a disaster. They have it all blocked off with black curtains but it looks horrible. The bathrooms down there aren't working. It's just a mess.Since the Allegria opened, there have always been rumors about the owners being bankrupt and close to closing. Personally I would be nervous to have my wedding there unless I got in writing what their plans where for renovation. Bridgeview has been around forever and while I've never been to a wedding there personally, I've heard nothing but incredible things about it.
I say keep the appointment and hear them out in regard to renovations. Can't hurt to meet with them.
Good luck!!! I'm sure whichever you pick will be gorgeous!!

Allegria vs Bridgeview Yacht Club
My cousin got married at Bridgeview Yacht Club in June. The area was all under construction at that time and wasn't the prettiest to drive to get to. When we arrived we were had to wait in the room you walk right into and were packed like sardines waiting to go to the ceremony spot. There were no drinks being served or snacks while we waited a fairly long time. The wedding was supposed to be at 6pm and they were waiting to see if it was going to rain or not because the reception was going to be outside so they made us wait for a fairly long time before deciding it would be indoors. The cocktail hour there was an abundance of food, which was delicious but the bar never seemed to flow adequately, there weren't enough bartenders so the wait for drinks was VERY long. We also didn't end up getting our dinner served until 11pm. SO many plates got sent back because it was just way too late to eat at that point. It was very pretty. This could have all been situational and just what happened with my cousins wedding but I was not amazed.

Thanks for all your help. I ended up cancelling my appointment with Allegria. I just was too nervous with all the negative reviews. I am going to see Bridgeview tomorrow. For the most part their reviews have been great. I'm hoping I find a place this week. This venue search is becoming work & not fun haha
