i use one of those winter boot mats. it's plastic, with an inch border. i also use yesterday's news which is made of recyled newspaper....much less litter everywhere and it doesn't get caught in Naboo's paws.

I use Yesterday's News too. We tried every litter and it was the only one that didn't make Ruby sneeze. And yes, much less messy.

I use that also, b/c Mima has asthma.

that is interesting. I find litter just around the box b/c Ollie thinks it cute to roll around in it and throw it out of the box.

oh, see passion party post below!

ditto, layla likes to roll around in there ... she has a habit of going in head first and she kicks the litter out the front BUT we bought one of those matts that helps to take the litter out of their paws when they get out of the box...

think of it as a front door matt to wipe your feet!

I had left over carpet from when the carpets were put in and put a large piece under his box and this way most of the litter gets caught on the mat.

Yeah, our vet actually recommended it because Ruby was sneezing so much and the vet said that it has the least dust out of the ones we were trying. She took to it right away so we were sold.

Re: Any Cat People?

I find that the mat helps a lot. I have never tried Yesterday's News. I use Scoop Away for multiple cats ( I have two). There is no odor, and it clumps really well. They do drop some of it, but it's mostly on the mat and around the box. It doesn't get all over like the Arm and Hammer used to. HTH....

Re: Any Cat People?

I have 2 kittens and they make a huge mess. We got a regular old bathmat (the small size) and put it in front of the litterbox and it catches most of hte litter. makes a huge difference. it has the longer threads so it catches a lot of litter and is comfy on their feet. we just shake it out when we want to clean it.

we also use a clumping litter which helps.

Re: Any Cat People?

OMG I can JUST clean the bathroom, and she KNOWS that I just cleaned it cause she goes right into the bathroom when IM done , uses her litter and I think has a litter party. I tried getting a mat and she peed on it. I dont know if theres a way to prevent her from dropping litter everywhere!!
