I am also taking pictures at Old Westbury Gardens. I agree it is way overpriced, a rip off even, but so is everything else in the wedding industry. I justified the cost because you can take beautiful pictures inside the mansion in the event of rain and that gave me peace of mind (god forbid it rains, I still have a beautiful setting for photos). It is also just a few miles from our church and we literally pass it on the way to our hall. The hour and half time limit doesn't bother me because I don't have any more time than that to really devote to pics. So, for us, it was the ideal place to take our pics.
Another great place is C.W. Post, the last photographer we visited had some pics displayed that were taken on the grounds there and they were really nice. Definitely worth checking out.
