Re: Anyone register early due to pressure?

Oh my God YES!! I have not even decided where I will register as I have all these other things to do!!! I think that we will prolly bite the bullet and do it in August or September as we maybe having the E-party in November (that is if these new dates work out with both sides of the family... OOT In laws make it really difficult to organize anything!)

Re: Anyone register early due to pressure?

I'd rather have his parents put their money from the eparty towards my wedding instead but that's another rant for another day.

Re: Anyone register early due to pressure?

We regitered really quickly b/c of all the pressure..and then the people who were pressuring us didn't exactly rish out to buy us gifts, (slmost a year and a ahlf later, we're still waiting)....but in my family people do register early b/c once you get engaged, birthday gifts, xmas gifts, all registry items
ETA: we mostly got cash engagement gifts so far (we didn't have a party, but we may). Maybe if you just go make a small registry, maybe 20 items in diff price ranges. If you have or can pick your china, that's a great thing to add to the registry.

To give you an idea so far people have bought us

fine china place settings $100 each
Fine china platter $140
8 Party plates- casual china -$65
Casual china trivet -$30
vase $30
decanter set - $50? (this was not on the registry)
coffee pot $40
Lenox snow white and prince charming - $250

So people will want to buy you things in diff price ranges. Also my aunt told me she was buying the the kitchen aid mixer, but I kind fo stalled her and told her to wait until after I was registrered b/c I think she wanted to buy me the $250 one and if she did I would just be returning it for the $400 professional one. Not that I want her to spend the $400, but that I'd rather she buy me something I'd keep for the $250.

on that note, I think registering for a few things in diff price ranges is good because people will want to buy you gifts and if you're not regsitered they WILL buy you just any old thing, and then you have to decide to keep it or return it and risk hurting their feelings. It may be inevitable tog et gifts and not know where to put them, but it's so much better to have gifts you LIKE cluttering your closet

We registrerd immediately for china, silver, and kitchen items, coffer pot, microwave, blender. toaster oven, etc. Staples that don't change much over the years and that people will want to buy. We held off of course on linens and towels although we did register for bathroom accessries b/c I fell in love with a set and if they get discontinued fortuoff will tell me and I'll just buy them or have my mom buy them.

Re: Anyone register early due to pressure?

Well we registered at BB&B last month and NO ONE got us anything. Now we find out from both families that they prefer to buy us 'good stuff' at Fortunoff..and since my first post we canceled the Engagement party.

Oh, it never ends!

Re: Anyone register early due to pressure?

We did and we are sooooo glad we did!!! We got so much stuff off our registry from parents friends, grandparents friends, etc... and then we got even more stuff for our engagement party! I keep updating it so when items go out of stock I can delete them and add new stuff!
