Some of the companies we saw didn't offer a second photographer. We had to ask at almost all of the places we went to

nope.

We hired a photographer who owns his own business. It's just him & an assistant. I'm sure he could have gotten a 2nd photographer if we asked him to, but that's not normally how he works.

the one i chose came with 2 photographers, but most companies i looked at wanted to charge me more for a second photographer...but some came with an assistant, but that is different from a 2nd photographer

same here. the photographer we hired had 2 cover the wedding and only works with 2. other places def were charging more for a 2nd one

Most didnt but the one im going w/ did. There was only one other that did.

Okay...Maybe I worded it wrong. Maybe they don't throw it in or automatically include it in your package---my question I guess is more: 'Did you feel like this was offered everywhere you went?'

I know just four-five years ago when friends and family were getting married, this concept was virtually non-existant...Now, whether you choose to take advantage of it or not, I feel like it's out there a whole lot more than it ever was.

In the last few weddings I have been in - we only had one photographer - actually all of the weddings i have ever been in.

But when I went to see all of the photogs... I noticed they were pushing it.

IMO, it's not necessary - it's like anything else - you can do without it or you can totally get some amazing stuff with it. If you love photography and want to get that stuff, then it's a good splurge...if not, you'll be alright.

But yeah, I def. think this is a new trend.

My photographer does the photojournalistic (or candid) photography as well as traditional. He's a one man show but with him and the assistant, who is also a photographer, I know I will get a mix of both.

Our photog is a photojournalist and does not do packages, per say. He also did the formals we requested and the family pictures, but 80 percent of our shots are candids and 1/2 are black and white. He is exactly what we wanted. He even used 2 separate cameras for BW and color--no digital. He was very old school. If you want to see some proofs FM me!
