Judging by the amount of time I have left accumulated (our sick time carries over each year) approx 3 days per year when I averaged it out. BUT... I also donate 3 sick days a year to a sick leave bank so I don't know how the heck that worked out like that.I've already used 2 days this year!!

We get 'PTO'...It's Personal Time Off...You get a certain amount of hours per paycheck...(I happen to get five...)
These hours are to be used for ANY time that you need off, regardless of what it is...SICK, BEREAVEMENT, VACATION, ETC. ETC.
The ONLY pro to this is that I don't have to call in 'sick' when I'm really not...I can just call in and say: 'I'm taking PTO today.' End of story.

I have never taken a sick day in my 8 years of working. I've taken days when I need them for bereavment, house closing, etc., but to me, taking a sick day is too stressful. The whole time I'd be worried about the work piling up on my desk, then when I returned, I'd have to work twice as hard and twice as long to get everything done to make up for it. I'd rather sit and sneeze at my desk!

We don't have a set amount of sick days with my company; they're pretty liberal about sick leave as long as it isn't abused.I'll take maybe 5 sick days a year. I don't really ever get that sick.

I usually only take 1 or 2 days sick and only if I'm actually sick. We get paid out for unused sick time at the end of the year so I'd rather the cash!

God I am awful if I feel a little under the weather I'm just like OK gonna stay home today and I call in before anyone gets here and leave a voicemail for my boss. I am the worst, I really really hate working. Somedays I wake up and just don't feel like coming to work so I stay home. It took me almost 2 hours to get here this morning!!! I live in Ozone Park and my job is in Great Neck for God's sake!!!!!

i'm really surprised at how few most of you take. at this particular job i get 8 and you can be sure i'll take 8 sick or not. i've already taken one to go visit friends in dc. i've always taken every day off i've been given, be it vacation, sick, personal whatever. i hate work and i can't really see an advantage to not taking my days except if i was maybe trying to save up for a long vacation. but at this job you can't carry-over vacation anyway so...

well im a teacher and we akk know how guilty we are taking sick days! i just had this dilemma this week. total this year, ive taken 3 days. i personally dont hink thats bad. i dont foresee any days in the future being that the 'healthy season' is coming, but you never know. i like to think that i take them if i need them. id say i average 4 per year also.

I get 7 sick, 3 personal (I think). Last year I took 5 days. This year I have taken 3. I hope I don't have to take any more this year though.

we get 5 sick each year so I take 5 sick each year...if I am not really sick I call it a 'mental health day'

I get 12 sick days per year. I usually use 3-5 sick days per year. I try not to take them because they pay you out for them at the end of the year.
