Bachlorette Ideas

Has anyone heard of Lucky Changs? (s.p.) I am one of the bridesmaids in the wedding party and someone else suggested to go there for the bachlorette party. Does anyone have any comments good or bad? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I want something fun and different. Thanks!

I have been coming here since I was told the Web site began to exist. Enough said...and I have been through the most miserable time with the planning of my own wedding. I went through the months of researching catering halls. Picked one that would handle a small affair. Thought I was happy with them, booked a photographer, who I still adore, although I wont get to use him. Got a DJ and a florist. The whole nine yards.

I had to cancel my plans and was very upset. I came here to tell everyone and you all were great. Until I had real problems and actually came to the boards to tell others the names of the establishments that were un professional. Now I am far from a dumby, and have been through a wedding and a marrage in my past, so I have done all this already. When my caterer tryed to keep 3x the legal amount that they were entitled to keep I was basically told that I was the one who was wrong! I know the laws, I read the contracts, yet I was Bashed! Same thing with the florist, who I never got more then an estimate from, nobody signed anything, yet now she wants money from me when nothing was ever in writing other then exactly just that....an estimate!

I have heard people say that it is a great time!! Although not noted for the food quality, I have heard some funny stories about that place, like people getting dragged up to dance on table with the drag queens (including guys that may be there). It sounds like its really fun :)

Thanks for the input. I'll keep you guys updated if I go.

Has anyone ever heard of Classic Creations Photography? They are located on Jericho Tpke in Huntington. Someone recommended them to me for my daughters wedding. Any info good/bad would be appreciated Thanks Carolyn

I'm new to this whole wedding planning thing and I am beginning to feel extremely overwhelmed. I am trying to be very organized about this and I figured that if I did one aspect at a time it would go smoothly. This doesn't seem to be the case, especially now that I went to a bridal center and left almost in tears. The guy there was really friendly, and it seems too helpful, because I almost drowned in the different PACKAGES he offered for EVERYTHING.(The word package gives me nightmares now)

I went to this place last year for our girlfriends husband. It was a blast! It's fun, but I couldn't eat there. Watching these guys (who were friendly, so sweet and nice!), I couldn't eat at all. I picked on some cold veges, but not the hot. My problem was watching them walk around in thongs and such. We had two dances at our table, which you can pay for and order The guys we were with didn't know it was going to happen. Everyone at the table ate but me, so I think it was a personal thing for me. Go for fun; it is a great time.

Your florist should also be able to help you in your search also, if not get them for you!

Good Luck!

My friend had her bachlorette party at Le Bar Bat on 57th Street. The manger/owner??? totally catered to us! We had dinner and then we went downstairs afterword and danced.

Personally - a month before my wedding, my friend and I are visiting my maid of honor who lives in Miami for a long weekend. I can't wait!

My sister is telling me that I have to have some sort of theme that makes it all go together. Do I? I think that my theme should be "if I like it, it's in." Is that tacky?

Jennifer - That's awesome that your getting away for a bit before the wedding. My wedding is 2 months from today and I can't tell you how much I wish to get away for a bit. My fiance's niece just bought an apartment in Manhattan so I think I'm going to visit her like 2 or 3 weeks before the wedding just to collect my thoughts and relax.

Ultimately, you should choose items that you like and will enjoy having as part of your wedding!

we went there for my best friends night out it was a blast but the food was blah... we had a great time our waitress was incredible the outfit that he/she wore was unbelieveable i don;t know where they put it. most of the staff had better bodies then the women that came in!!!

June - that's such a wonderful idea. Now I wish I was having a reception by the ocean. At my reception, we don't have table cards. The staff escorts each and every guest to their table.

As far as how many to get you can put several at each table if you are presenting them in frames or in menu holders. Another way to do it that is nice as well is to have them inserted into the flap of a folded napkin and lay them on top of the plate at each place setting. In this case you would need one per person.

Hi. I was thinking of going out to Montauk for the weekend. We can rent some efficientcy apartments and hang out on the beach etc. I was thinking of staying at Gurney's Inn & Resort. They are on the beach and have a wonderful day spa. You can get massages etc. or just pay $20 to use the pool and saunas. I think it would be an awesome idea.

Any of those places along the water are great, My best girl-vacation memories are weekends spent in Montauk with my college friends hanging on the beach and dancing at night. If you stay at Gurneys thats great. If you are looking to save some money any of the motels along the beach behind Main Street are great. Go to Surfside Inn(right up the road from Gurneys heading East) for dinner at sunset. Nicks is great for food, view and they have a good DJ(usually). The Montauket is a great old bar on the sound, I just spent all March 19th at the St. Patricks Day Parade in Montauk and we all went to The Montauket afterward it was fun and a beautiful day. Don't forget Gosmans!! Skip the Crows Nest if you hear anything about, it is expensive and smells bad, the food is definetly Not worth the money they charge. Have a great time, you don't even feel like you are on Long Island, it is definetly a relaxing vacation!

Thanks. I spend most of my spring and fall weekends out there. I avoid it in the summer. I love Cyril's Fish House. It is a little further west of Gurney's on the Napeague Stretch. Great Food and awesome bartender (She makes the best frozen drinks). I love it out there. Did you ever try the food at Shag Wong in town. Great. Well thanks for the info.

June,

How do you think it would be out there in the first week of May? Is there much to do at night? I really would like to go away somewhere for my bachelorette weekend, but not somewhere too far or too expensive.

I figured that one night we could go out to dinner and the other night we could go out to a bar/dancing.

I like it out there all year round, it should be beautiful out there that time of year. If it is a sunny weekend you will even get some beach time in there. Not everybody is going to be open yet, for alot of businesses it will be there first weekend open for the season. There are alot of places to go and dance, if you want to go where everybody goes East of Southampton. There is a place in Springs(only 20 minutes West of Montauk) on Springs Fireplace Road called NV(envy) it is a great funky place always packed and always alot of STARS. They have an attatched restaurant so if you want to go for a late dinner and then dancing it's a great night out without alot of driving around. Call ahead to make reservations, and as soon as you get out there grab a Dan's Paper and A Hamptons magazine(both free) there at just about every deli, or store in the Hamptons, it will tell you all the great things going on that weekend.

I live in NJ, my parents live in Sag Harbor and my sister lives in Southampton, I would love to live in Montauk it is so unspoiled, and there are nothing like Montauk Beaches. Every beach there looks like a postcard.

Just thought I'd share with fellow "Brides on a Budget"...

Hi. As June I love Montauk. Alot of businesses will open only on weekends in April/May. It is a great time to go because the weather is still good and you wont have to pay in season prices. I usually stay at either Montauk Manor, Gurneys or The Hermitage. Gurneys has an awesome day spa that you can just pay $20 an use the indoor pool and hot tubs etc. Check out Cyrils on the Napeague Stretch. Awesome food, caribbean island atmosphere and great frozen drinks. A real party. Also Kenny's Tipperary will have live bands. It is so relaxing out there and you feel like you are in another world. Good Luck!!

Hi Vince!

Thank you everyone for your responses. From the response I have gotten here and from other firends, I think we are going to try Lucky Changs but maybe eat a big lunch so not to worry about the food. Good Luck to all!

Brenda: You can also try the Flower Cart in Nesconset. Steve is the owner and was so wonderful to me. I ordered 3 bridesmaids, 2 mothers wrist bands, 12 boutineers, 2 large floor altar flowers, 2 small altar flower arrangements, petals for my flower girl. (I ordered Blue Hydrangea which is not is season in 2 months). His prices are great. He is so accomodating and picked out all sorts of flowers while I was there and spent over an hour with me. At the end of the night, he wrapped up all the flowers he showed me, wrapped up a bouquet and gave it to me and said enjoy (corny, but I thought it was special). So down to earth and actually took down the names of every guy getting a boutineer, bouquet, etc. He labels every arrangement to the person getting it and drops it off to each location.

We touched on the rodents thing before. It was a rumor that was started.(Read on to Jerry Scottos posting) The Fox Hollow is a fine place. As far as Cathy goes she needs to update herself on catering halls. The Chateau needs an uplift!
