I also had the same dilemma. I tried on A-lines and sheaths. Bc I'm short, the A lines with some tulle underneath made me look cute, yet princessy. The sheaths gave me a shape, def a sexier look. I was about to buy the sheath when I realized the traditional part of me really wanted to look good (thin) yet not too sexy on my wedding day. Long story short, I found an A-line that did not have all the tulle underneath with a tightly fitted bodice, voila, SEXY PRINCESS. Keep trying on the gowns, you will find something you LOVE.

I thought I wanted something simple too, untill I tried on a ball gown. I figure it's the only time in my life I can get away with wearing a dress like that! Yes, it also felt more 'bridal'. The other one just felt like a really nice dress. The skirt is tulle, so it is very light.
Like everyone else says, it's up to you, and when you put the right dress on, you will know. I'm sure you will be beautiful in either one!

I think you should try on all different styles and see what looks best on you. I have yet to go dress shopping but I think I want an A-line. I don't really want a fitted dress; this is really my only opportunity to wear a ball gown since I doubt I'll ever be going to the Emmy's!!!
