Band vs. DJ

Help. Can someone suggest a good band reasonably priced? I am not a fan of any of the Skyline Orchestra's bands.

Also has anyone heard of or used the following DJ's - Top Spin Entertainment (they do DJ band combos) or Spin Around Sound? I have appts this weekend with them and would love some feedback. Thanks

Full House is a wonderful band, but about 5,000.00, 4,000.00 without the horn section. They will send you a demo tape. They are on this site. My fiance is friends with the owner. I've heard them in person and have their tape. I personally can't afford that, but if I could, I would hire them. I hired High Energy Entertainment of Ronkonkoma. He did my sister's wedding 5 years ago. He's awesome, but you have to request Ralph to do the wedding.

I'm looking into the Keys of Florida. It comes highly recommended to me. I'm looking at the Radisson on Marco Island. It's about 600.00 for the week and the flights right now are 165.00 round trip. Check it out.

Thanks for the info. I actually called Full House and they are booked. I will call High Energy.

Was wondering if anyone has ever stayed at a resort in the Florida Keys. I've never been there, but I'm probably honeymooning there but I'm not sure where to stay. Marco Island?

We are using Rainbow Orchestra - they are from Miller Place, and the place we are getting married recomennded them. They are awesome! I have heard really good things about them. They are a seven piece band, and they only charge $2200!! If you want more info, let me know...

I HAVE HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT "RAINBOW" AS WELL, BUT THEY WERE BOOKED FOR MY DATE. I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW INEXPENSIVE THEY ARE. MY BAND IS GREAT "HEART AND SOUL" BUT, ALMOST DOUBLE THE PRICE.

As far as favors are concerned we do alot of great favors for bridal showers....just some of them are dress shaped trinket boxes, candles, mugs filled with candy, potpourri miniature bride sachets that look like little brides, all types of chocolates, frames, and more. We also do a towel cake centerpiece that is a nice touch as well.

Hope this helps! Stephanie, Classic Favors and Invitations

IF you wouldnt mind Jeanine I would really appreciate some info. Just a phone # and contact would be great. Thanks

That's a great idea. One other thing you could put in it, if you haven't bought it already, is a magazine called Locations. It tells you all about local catering halls, what their capabilities are and they give you the telephone number and contact persons for each hall. It's a great book> I bought it myself and find it very useful.

PS: If you are interested I bought it at Barnes & Nobel

Speak to Lisa - the # is 476-6529. Good Luck and let me know how it goes...

You can either have one at the top of each plate setting, or one every other setting (if you choose a favor one per couple). Like Kate said, make them decorative to liven up the table.

That way, the B&G didn't have to think about them again, and enjoyed the night. Make use of your bridesmaids...that's what they're there for :-)

Thank you very much. I will call them today!!!

That being said, its important to know how to handle them with care and respect. At my cousin's wedding, I tried to give her the envelope and she was too busy dancing and REFUSED TO TAKE IT!!! She actually told me that she didn't want it! (which i thought was a little rude. i don't give out $150 every day...) As a result, many people threw their envelopes on her table, many had cash - and she never received them. : (

I like the idea of handing them over to a trusted family member - and I have just the right person in mind! Thanks, everyone for all your input!
