Best Man & Final Payments at the Wedding

I read in a wedding planner that one of the duties of the best man is to distribute all of the final payments for the evening (those that are due on the day of the wedding, not the tips). Is this true? It seems unusual to me. I'm planning to take care of this myself anyway, but I'm just curious as to what the usual practice is.

Your florist should also be able to help you in your search also, if not get them for you!

Good Luck!

Best Man & Final Payments at the Wedding

I plan on taking care of it myself too. Or give the monies to my mother or my fi's mother. I dont know about giving that kind of responsibility to the best man :)

JAMELLE - Can you help us on this one.

All my payments are due 2 weeks before the event except for my DJ, which is due that night. I thought the best man gave out the tips at the end of the affair. UGH!

All of my vendors were paid in full before the wedding with the exception of the makeup artist, who was paid a deposit and final payment was done that day. I had an Aide de Camp (fancy way of saying assistant) since he was a male I did not want to call him an coordinator and that was not really what he did. It was Mike brother-in-law who just married Mike sister 2 years prior. They also had a large affair and I felt like he was more in tune to what goes on at the wedding. He handled all of the tipping, made sure that the guys all got the boutonnieres at the church, made sure that everyone had directions and rides to the reception. Stayed on top of the seating. He had the master list and should I had made and error he could fix it. He also had a list of people that had cancelled after the final payment was made and where those empty seats was, just incase someone arrived with a guest that they had not RSVP'd for, and someone did. He also had the list of all of the photographs that I wanted taken so that he could make sure that the photographer got all of the shots that I wanted. ( He had little to do there because my photographer was awesome) I felt like the Best Man's job was to make sure that the Groom was ok, and to give in the task of all of the thing I listed above was too much to ask and have him in all of the pictures etc. Besides, his son (who is two) was our ring bearer, and it takes 2 parents to keep up with a 2 year old. That is just what we did, plenty of people leave the tipping up to the best man. I guess it depends on the best man. hope that this helps!

Thanks For The Input!

How do you think it would be out there in the first week of May? Is there much to do at night? I really would like to go away somewhere for my bachelorette weekend, but not somewhere too far or too expensive.

I figured that one night we could go out to dinner and the other night we could go out to a bar/dancing.
