Well, I had to organize all of the stuff between the two houses, so I figured I would take advantage of that, go thru it all, make sure the notes match the gift and card and one by one, I wrote my cards! 
It's a relief to know that they are done - cause in less then 2 months, I have to do almost 3 times as many more and my hand is gonna be hurting then!!! 
Besides, the day was really fresh in my mind and made the cards more personalized.
Oh yea, and the thank you card debate was also in my mind and I didn't want to be the girl in our group who never got her TY cards out on time or done nicely
