Re: Brides who are having/had their wedding ceremony @ reception hall....

we decided to have our recption/ceremony..everything at East Wind. My FH family is from NH and i have a lot of friends and family from out of town too. We just figured it would be so much easier to have to all in one, easier for us and for everyone else that is traveling! :) GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: Brides who are having/had their wedding ceremony @ reception hall....

We're getting married at the hall, Giorgio's has a beautiful outside garden with a a gazebo and I fell in love. Churches don't mean that much to me, FH is divorced so it couldn't be in a Catholic church (we're Catholic), but if we HAD to have a church we could have gone to a protestant church. But getting married outside in a garden is what I've always wanted!

I GOT MARRIED ON 10/29/05 @ VERDI'S OF WESTBURY AND HAVEING THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION IN THE SAME PLACE CUTS DOWN ON TIME.. YOU SPEND A LOT FOR THE RECEPTION HALL AND TO MISS ANY TIME FROM WHAT YOU'VE PAID FOR HURTS. THIS WAY YOU HAVE WAY MORE TIME TO PARTY...

I have always wanted to get married by the lake and also I did not want to move from one location to the next. We sure did find a beatiful place with a beautiful compound surrounded by a lake and lush gardens. For us it was the ultimate.

Re: Brides who are having/had their wedding ceremony @ reception hall....

It is more convenient to have them both at the same place, IMO. We didn't even go elsewhere for pictures. We won't have the dramatic scenery for our photos like many people do, but I am okay with that. I was really able to save up my energy for the reception.

Anyway, we had it at the same place because it's just kinda the Jewish way. But you are right, it seems to be a growing trend in many faiths.

Re: Brides who are having/had their wedding ceremony @ reception hall....

there were a few reasons for us but number one was the convience factor for our guests, they did not have to drive as much, or get lost, could drink as long as they wanted, there was no long wait between things, there was no - I am a guest without anything to do for x amount of time and do I get to the reception early or wait somewhere like mcdonalds or worse the car.

the other was we fell in love with where we got married.

Re: Brides who are having/had their wedding ceremony @ reception hall....

I'm Catholic and FH is Jewish. Our wedding will be indoors at our reception place. In order to get a dispensation from the Catholic Church to not have my wedding in the church but be recognized by the church - ceremony has to be indoors for some reason which is fine since my wedding is late Nov.

I refuse to see my FH before ceremony for pictures though - he and one of the photographer's we met with think I am insane. It's just tradition to me - my groom should not see me until I walk down that aisle towards him. People can tell me how crazy I'm being until they are blue in the face - it is something I feel so strongly about. We're having our cocktail hour extended a half hour so we can possibly enjoy some of it.

Re: Brides who are having/had their wedding ceremony @ reception hall....

as the above posters said, some think a ceremony should be in a church, etc... to honar your religion. for us, we did a non-regilous cermony so we didnt have to worry bout that.

secondly...pictures do you want alot of formal pictures and want to go to your cocktail hour?
well, your formals are done during cocktail hour if both ceremony and reception are in the same place. had i'd been at a church, we could of took alot more pictures and drove to a different locations for pics, where as you are in the same place, you will be limited for your secenary and time

while convient to others, make sure you do what you want to do cause 'you should only be doing this once'
