Bridesmaid dresses

I am getting married in September 2000 (day wedding) and my gown is diamond white. I love the look of ivory/cream long dresses for my bridal party but I have a few concerns. I looked at dreses in some departments stores because I do not want my bridal party to spend the money on typical 'bridesmaid dresses.' I would prefer them to buy a dress/style that looks good on them, that they will be able to wear again and that won't break their bank account. I saw very little ivory in the stores--more pastel colors which I do not prefer. My bridal party ranges in size from 2P to plus size (and 6 months post pregnancy) and I do not expect them to wear the same dress or dresses by the same designer. Is ivory appropriate for a day wedding in the Fall? Will my larger sized bridesmaid look good in ivory? Will there not be enough of a contrast between my bridal party and myself? I want to make this process as easy as possible for myself and for my bridal party. All advice would be helpful. Thanks.

It IS a nice place, and the food is good - but that kind of service is horrible!

Take your good money elsewhere! Their loss!!!!!

Bridesmaid dresses

Ive seen and been in wedding parties that all all ivory or white and I think it looks great. It maybe harder to find a style that looks good on a lrger size, but I am sure something is out there. I also like difft dresses for each, less uniformy looking and friend will appriciate it. It may be hard to match colors if you go outside of a bridal shop, but if they all live locally it will probably be easier to coordinate. You can use a common element to tie everyone together, whether it be jewelry or a shawl or a feature of the dress (neckline, colored trim, etc)

As far as a Sept wedding, even if that is 'technically' fall, it is usually summer-like weather so ivory is totally appropriate! Go for it! Good luck.

Keep me posted!

Is that like a snowball wedding?

I think it would look very pretty - and give you many options for flowers as well! : )

Re: sizes. Either and A line or a princess cut would work well - esp for the pregnant maid. You can take it to someone and have panels added.

Why not give a swatch of fabric with the color in mind and have them shop for their own. This gives you more time to concentrate on you and everyone will be happy with what they will be wearing!! Also I've seen Long skirts($60) at Estelles Dresses in Farmingdale, Route 110. Then they can top them with a cartigan set that can purchased anywhere, and they have two different outfits.Your maid of honor can choose something different to dress hers up, like a lace collar, etc. Also the sweaters will come in handy if you have a cool afternoon in the fall. Good luck!! Kat

This might sound outrageous but check Payless Shoes. A friend of mine got her bridal shoes there (they were plain but very cushiony) as well as her bridal party and they took them elsewhere to have them dyed.

I am all for wearing Keds. But no one else agrees with me. Good Luck.
