We own now. We'll probably buy a new house before the wedding - if all goes well.

Re: buying or renting?

We are looking. I would prefer to buy but will most likely stay where we are renting until a decent DP is saved up. We are getting there.

I cant imagine spending all this money on wedding stuff AND putting a DP on a house!! Yikes!

Re: buying or renting?

We're renting now. We should've gone straight into a house. I hope we can buy one after the wedding, renting is just draining us and we're not getting anything for it.

We are definetly not going to rent or buy on Long Island. I live in Valley Stream and work in Manhattan and the thought of commuting longer than 45 min or an hour or more turns me off. FI works in Brooklyn. We are thinking BK or Qns.

Cant wait to get rid of my LIRR monthly pass!

We could be neighbors! LOL

I work in Manhattan (you already know that) and FI also works in Brooklyn.

Re: buying or renting?

We will be renting a three bedroom apartment until we are able to buy. People do what they can. Sure it is much better to own than to rent but I would much rather rent for a year or two than buy and have an empty house without furniture to sit on. My brother lived in house for three or four years before he had a couch in his living room.

FH owned a condo that we lived in and recently we bought a home in Monroe CT- so buying, renting was such a waste when I had to do it...

We'll probably rent for a year or two. It's worth it for us because we don't know if we want to stay on Long Island or move out of state.
