Cake Quotes

Hi
I am getting married at the Vineyards in Aquebogue and a cake is not included in our package. What should I expect to pay for a cake from an outside baker? I am looking for something simple, but I have no idea what a reasonable price is. Does anyone have quotes from bakeries they used or researched?

A lot really seems to depend on how many people you're trying to feed, with it being about $3.50-$5.00 per slice of cake. So at a minimum, if you want a cake to feed 100 people, it's going to be $350-$500. Then the more 'stuff' you add on (i.e. tiers, fresh flowers, fresh fruit, etc.) will cost more, plus tax and delivery, so you'll probably end up in the $500-$600 range. Keep in mind, not everybody will want to eat cake, so for a 150-person wedding, you can probably get away with only having enough cake for 120 people. Also, if you want a big impressive cake but don't want to actually pay for cake for 300, a baker can totally frost styrofoam layers so you'll have an impressive-looking cake that's half fake. Just remember not to try to cut that layer at the cake cutting!
