Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

We were trying for awhile but than he got hurt and we stopped than we started to go again. Lately we don't make it because of his schedule on the weekend. I guess there is no excuse for me not to go.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

I do go to mass regularly, also I have been teaching CCD for the last 14 years so having a full mass was nothing I had to think about.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

Wow - I didn't realize there were more than just me who were either converting to Catholicism or becoming Catholic. I attend class once a week as well as Mass on Sundays with my classmates. For me the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony as a confirmed Catholic is my payoff for all of the classes I have been attending. Besides I don't think FH's father would have it any other way. FH's great-uncle is a retired monsignor and he is marrying us....

Those of you converting - are you getting confirmed Holy Saturday?

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

Both DH and I are Catholic and go to church regularly. So having a full mass was the only way to go. I went to Catholic scholl through 12th grade so it has kind of been beaten in to me!! Plus our wedding was on a Sunday so we killed two birds with one stone!!

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

Those of you converting, welcome to the 'Catholic Club'. Being married in the house of God with your friends and family is the best result of all your classes and attending mass.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

I'm not sure though about a month ago the father blessed all of those in class from head to toe accepting us to make the next step with our sponsors. I'll have to ask on Sunday.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

No confession needed girls. That is the one thing I just will not do as a Catholic...just aren't comforatble with that! Theresa, sounds like you and I lived paralell lives...had the full mass x-mas wedding, with carols and trumpets for me, plus had the chaplain from my high school marry us! It was the best wedding ceremony I had ever been too (yes, I know I am a little biased, but honestly, it was so personally and funny and it was actually a fun filled mass...not just the old Sunday standard with some wedding vows mixed in.!)

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

My priest told us the same thing. Any Catholic knows that in order to receive communion you are suppose to be free of your sins by going to confession.

Re: Catholic brides having a church wedding...

I haven't confessed since....
My take on confession is this--how can we confess to someone that is not perfect? The priest has his own mistakes and sins. And I don't want to share my sins to a stranger either. I am no angel.

I ask for forgiveness of my sins when I am sitting waiting for service to begin. As I pray I ask for forgiveness. Well this only happens twice a year when I do make it to church.
