I wont tell you ladies what to do, but I'll tell you what WE did.

We did not tip extra. The reason being: false advertising. When we booked, you're told you pay a $300 Maitre'd fee. Its not until much later that you're told that it doesnt really go to the maitre'd. Well, then we felt they should call it what it is -- if its called a maitre'd fee, as far as we're concerned its supposed to go to the maitre'd.

On top of that, someone should never ASK for a tip. When we sat down for our final meeting, Nick brought up 'oh the maitre'd fee goes to so and so...so you should tip the maitre'd an extra $2 or so per person' Tipping is up to your discretion and is based upon quality of service. Its extrememyl out of line for them to ask for a tip on top of the mandatory fee, on top of the service charge. All in all, the $300 SHOULD be going to the maitre'd....if its not, its their problem. We paid it to the maitre'd since thats where the title of the fee assumes its going. Of course, they did an excellent job on our wedding day and therefore, $300 would have been a sufficient tip for the size of our party. JMHO.

I totally agree with you ... i personally am against tipping ... IMO people get paid to do their job why do i need to tip them ...i dont get tipds for doing my job ... my only exception is for watier and waitresses at resturants they deserve tips because they dont get paing a good amoutn hourly ... but everyone is giving me grief about not tipping so i thought maybe i should give a little extra ... like a 100 or maybe more ... i am still not sure if i am tipping the wait staff since i was told my charge of 18% ocvers that ... if i have money left over i will maybe give them extra ... also how much did you give your bridal attendant?

I think we gave her $50. She mainly got us drinks, our food, and helped me pee once. Other than that I didnt see her too much. She was great though. I would have tipped her a little more (like $75 instead) but we ended up not having any extra cash on us that night...so unfortunately i gave her exactly what I had int he envelope.
