cute or tacky...opinions, please!

Ladies and Gents,

I was thinking of buying a bunch of postcards while on my honeymoon and writing them out as my THANK YOU card...instead of using the traditional white stationery. Although, they will likely be mailed after we get back (since I'm not going to write them on the honeymoon). I just figure the words and sincerity will be the same as far I'm concerned...AND it will include the guests a bit more as to where we went.

I think that's a cute idea. It doesn't matter what cards you use. If you want to thank people in this way, it makes it more personal. Just make sure there's enough room on them for proper thanks!

I don't know where you are planning to honeymoon, but do you seriously want to drag back home 50-100 postcards from your destination? That could be a bit inconvenient. They might get mangled or crushed in your luggage and may weigh down your already overfilled bags by that much more.

Also, I don't know if you planned on including the traditional picture with your thank you. That won't be possible if you send a postcard. I tend to think people would appreciate more a formal written out thank you with a picture included. I usually dump postcards in the trash after time, yet I hold onto the wedding picture from the thank you cards and look back at them fondly. Just my opinion...

I will be honest, I have mixed feelings about the idea, I think that your older guest might not appreciate it as much, and that people look forward to the picture thank you's. But if you really wanted to do it, I would say take it one step further and have the postcards made, with a picture of you and your new hubby on your honeymoon, make sure that the picture is taken in a place that people will be able to tell that you are on your honeymoon, and maybe even have some words super imposed on the front like: Our sincere Thanks Jamelle & Mike Maui, Hawaii 2000

Actually I think that a thank you should reflect your appreciation for your gifts, and I am not sure that the post card conveys it…sorry! it's just my opinion!
