Re: Dead set against........
Pete & I will be doing it... we find it to be a fun break, and the last 3 weddings we went to, the bride & groom did not do these, and Pete was like - hey.... isn't something missing???? I agreed with him.... JMO!

Re: Dead set against........
Another alternative is to throw the bo-k immediately after the wedding ceremony and get it out of the way

Re: Dead set against........
We're doing it also. We think it's fun and most of our friend's aren't married yet. If they were, we probably wouldn't do it.Last wedding I went to they didn't do and honestly I didn't notice till a few of the groom's friends commented on it and said they felt something was missing.
I say, do what makes you happy

We're probably going to do it, but I made my fiance promise to be very tasteful when removing the garter - my sister threw the bouquet, but wasn't comfortable with having the garter removed in front of everyone. To each his or her own - do whatever makes you happy!

Well, I spoke to JT tonight, and he's not even into the giving the bouquet and garter during an anniversary dance. He hasn't had much of an opinion other than, SURE! until this, so I am just gonna say forget it. I didn't want to stop the party to begin with. Oh well, cute ideas though ladies!

I think we are going to do the oldest couple gets the bouquet and garter. That looks like so much fun in Jenn's piics.

We're not doing it either for the same reason..we think it takes away from the dancing.

Re: Dead set against........
I like the idea that someone just posted about doing it after the ceremony so it is out of the way. Perhaps I could toss it over my shoulder as I am getting into the limo. Another idea is to toss it right before I leave the reception. I really don't want to do the garter toss. I think it is a little tacky and awkward and I once went to a wedding where a 35 year old guy caught the garter and a 12 year old girl caught the bouquet. He was nice about it though. He got down on this knees and put on a show of stretching and cracking his knuckes and then put it on her arm!!

Re: Dead set against........
I loved that we did the anniversary dance as well. We had three couples married 55+ years and they were so cute. Everyone was rooting them all on by the end! DH did remove my garter but we didn't have the winners put the garter on each other. DH's parents neighbors won. We actually thought it would have been DH's grandparents and grandpa can barely see and grandma had no clue what was even going on - so can you imagine them trying to do that - it would have taken at least 20 minutes to explain what they need to do. The couple that won was so excited. It was all too cute!!!I wish I had my pictures scanned from it!
