Re: Did/does your man get to pick his own outfit for the wedding?

In regard to the HM, I told him it was his baby. I want warm and tropical - the rest is up to him.

As far as his tux goes, he is a big boy and can dress himself. He also has presence of mind to ask me what would look good on him as well as what would coordinate with the females. I am not going to be matching colors - it is more about style - what cut of jacket, what type of collar, vest, tie etc. Also the time of day and level of formality comes into play when choosing a tux. Years ago, if you got married on a Sunday afternoon, the men wore cutaways with ascots and top hats. Times have changed but there are still general guidelines if you are inclined to follow them.

He picked out the Tuxes for himself and the Groomsmen, then called me to come and approve them - haha
As for the honeymoon, we did all of that together. -

Re: Did/does your man get to pick his own outfit for the wedding?

My DH wanted full control over the tuxes so I said ok. When the time came, he was so overwhelmed he had me go with him to help.
As for the HM, I did the planning, but that's because he just dosn't do that type of thing well.

My whole point of these questions was to show him that for weddings, women usually take the lead role and the men go along for the ride. The women ultimately have the finally say because it is their vision, their lifetime dream. The problem my FH has is he can not give up being in control, even of something like this. Thank for listening. Can we say therapy!!!

Oh, I TOTALLY disagree with you here. It's as much his day as it is yours.

How would you like it if someone else chose what you were going to wear for the day? My DH chose his outfit completely.

He also booked the honeymoon as a surprise for me.

Ease up a little! Is it really the end of the world if he wears a color that's not in your 'vision' I'm with your FH!

Re: Did/does your man get to pick his own outfit for the wedding?

We decided on everything together, with the exception of my dress. I was happy to let him choose the tuxes, but he asked what I preferred and then asked me to go with him. He chose the honeymoon and planned it, but I helped him with some of the research with hotels, but he ultimately booked it and took care of it himself.

Re: Did/does your man get to pick his own outfit for the wedding?

He'll pick out whatever he wears - He dresses better than I do so if anyone should be asking for help, I should be asking him to help me with my dress. . . but I haven't!

Re: Did/does your man get to pick his own outfit for the wedding?

I know what he likes so I let him pick his own tux and his GM. I did all the research on the HM and ran everything by him, then we decided.

I'm with Farah here.....it's his wedding too! Why can't he help pick things out?
You say he can't give up control...but you're not letting him have any, from what you say...
Why not do it all together?

Re: Did/does your man get to pick his own outfit for the wedding?

I am not saying he has no say. I just think we should try to agree on the decisions and he thinks he should have full choice of both the outfits and the honeymoon without me getting involved at all. If your FH was one of the cheapest people in the world, would you trust him with your honeymoon which only happens once in your life?

Re: Did/does your man get to pick his own outfit for the wedding?

i never siad he can't pick out his outfit. i am sorry if i made it seem like that. we have been doing it together. we actually ordered 3 different shirts and we are trying to decide on one as we speak. he does not think we should have ordeded three shirts. he think he should have just picked his favorite, and ordered it without me. if he wants to pay for the honeymoon and make every little arrangement, go for it. that would be so great with me. he even picked our destination. i am so busy thesse days. but i should think that i would at least get to help decide and research hotels. i love to travel and even used to be a travel agent. he know how staying in nice places is important to me and he is choosing 2 1/2 star resorts in a place where the hotels are a 1/2 the price of here. i think i have the right to be involved somewhat, don't you? he feels as though the men's outfits and the honeymoon is entirely up to the man and the man should do it by himself.

Having a husband who is as much as a control freak as me, yes it's hard, BUT COMPROMISE!! You love him, You Trust him right? You must since you are marrying him... Let him make his decision, let him have control of something so he feels he is contributing. He knows you, he loves you, he will make the right decision for the both of you. ANd YES, my control freak of a husband is tight with his wallet and he totally surprised me with the honeymoon. We spent soo much money and his wallet was open for the pickin!
Have some faith, marriage is just about compromise as it is love.

edited to add: My husband picked out his tuxes on his own, i was not allowed to have any input, drove me nuts, but I dealt with it. He did fine!
