DH and i moved in together after our wedding. It's the way we both wanted it. I personally dont believe you have to live together first to know if it will work or not. I was with a guy for 5 years before DH and broke up with him because i knew it wasnt right and even then we werent living together. I know i cant live without DH so any little quirks that come up now that we are living together, we see them as just that : insignificant quirks. The way he folds the towels differently than i do, leaving the toilet seat up, toothpaste on the mirror, etc just arent enough to sway my opinion of if we should be together. Once again every relationship is different and i know plenty of people who like to know the quirks before they enter into marriage. I believe you have a choice and whatever is right for you and your significant others is all that matters. To each's own.

We have been living together for 6 years! We got together in Nov 2001, and he basically moved in with me when I got my first apt in July 2002, He 'officially' moved in Nov 2002, so 6 years for us. We got engaged in 2007.

Nice. Maybe it has just been me but I feel that this was the best for us let me know after your wedding if you agree. We were already used to each other's living habits so we were able to move on with the marriage. Do I sometimes wish that our first living experience would have been as husband and wife- of course, but really just for the symbolism. I do not miss getting used to the nick nacks to make living together work

I agree... we have already worked out the kinks.We have been living together for 2 1/2 yrs.. Engaged for 1 1/2 yrs.

I also think its important to live together first. I lived w/ my X when I was 26. I thought we would def get engaged, after dating for almost 4 yrs.. Boy was I wrong. It was such an eye opener living together. If we didnt, I am afraid to say, we would have had major problems, if not be divorced.

DH moved in together after we were married. I am old fashioned and this is the only way I would have done it!

A lot of people say that you have to live with someone before you get married BUT after ten years with DH there were no surprises.

For us, we always heard people saying that married life was just like before because they lived together. We didn't want that - we wanted it to be a completely new and different experience and it was. And it was ( and is ) a wonderful experience

wow, we have just about the same time line as you do, we've been together 9 years & living together 6 yrs too & engaged in feb 07' lol!
