DJ needed!

Does anyone have a dj recommendation? We were all set to go with a particular one, but then got scared since we never got an actual recommendation. We think the music will be the most important thing, other than the food. We are looking for someone really good, but no tacky stuff. Would appreciate any personal recommendations.

Offer to go when they have events planned - and ask to taste lots of stuff at once. You wouldn't buy a car without test driving it first to make sure it suits your needs....this is one of the biggest expenses you'll have in your newly married life. Be very critical....someone on this board suggested that you shouldn't have to taste because , if its a fine establishment - there should be no question as to the quality of the food. Just yesterday I was speaking with a very well educated professional who bought an Infinity without driving it first. Great car, right? He hated how it handled and sold it. Not all things are the same for all people....)

It is important that you be completely comfortable with your decision. If you're not - go elsewhere. There are plenty of other people out there who will cater to your needs. You shouldn't have to 'push' for anything...

Try Sal @ Top Spin Music. 874-3484 He works w/a female singer (if you want) + is NOT tacky.

Also try Spin Around Sound. They have a website. If you cant find it let me know. I dont have their # handy. We booked them for our wedding. Extremely low key DJ. Not tacky. No dancers or obnoxious MC. Good Luck!!

WHat time of year was your quote for? I'm having my reception on New Year's Day and I was originally quoted a price of $110 and they changed it to $65 for the exact same menu.

I just hired High Energy Entertainment. They did my sister's wedding 5 years ago (the owner did it) and he was fantastic. He's doing mine.

$775.00 for his package. They are located in Ronkonkoma

Estelles is another suggestion, although they are hit-and miss.

Concetta sounds like you got a great deal. I dont know what that includes but sounds like a good deal. I see someone recomended Sal @ Top Spin. He is very nice and will work with your budget. The singer that he works with sounded great. He played a CD of her when he came to see us at our house for information. We did not select hime though he was one of the final choices. We decided to go with Get In Tune in Centereach. I do not have the number here at work. But he more suited our needs than Sal did. We got Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and Reception with the giveaways in a package for $995. Sal actually was able to price wise give us a better deal that included the female singer, we just felt that he gears himself to an older crowd. That may not be true but it was the impression we got when he sat down to talk to us. Good Luck in your selection.

Almaz Brothers: 35-13 30th Avenue. Phone is 718-545-6073. They're open every day but Saturday. Its owned by 2 brothers - Ralph and Yury (Ralph is the guy you'll be dealing with - Yuri is the ring maker guy in the back). Ralph is a sweetie : ) They've been in business since '84.

Good luck! : )

Hi there. We met with Sal as well. Sal and my fiance hit it off very well (both being musicians) But we got the same feeling regarding that he would be geared towards an older crowd. We went with Spin Around Sound. We get everything included (including giveaways). This was such a hard decision. Music can make or break your reception. Good Luck!!!

e-mail me privately and I'll tell you more such as some prices, etc.

Good luck! : )

Fine Time Entertainment

contact is George Marchelos (718) 321-3162

State of the art equip, very high class...one of those people who just plays the music and does not chatter on the mic all night (the attention should be on you, not him!). Been in business since before 1984.....

He did my cousin's wedding in October (everyone danced and had a great time!) and is doing mine this month. Very well priced - we're paying $750 for 5 hours. No handouts (not something we wanted) We're meeting with him next week to outline our program (his suggestion).

We booked QT productions, he has actually on this site under the vendors. Meike Shields is great, he's so helpful. I got his name from someone who used them for their wedding and loved him.

I called his office 2 weeks ago and the woman I spoke to said that, b/c I was referred by the Milleridge, they would give me a comp ride home after the reception or from my home to the airport.

I called yesterday and they told me that info was incorrect and wouldn't give me the car. I asked to speak with Kenny.

Follow-up - Fine Time Entertainment

Paul & I met with George on Monday night. He spent over 2 hours with us working on the program for our wedding reception. When to play what types of songs in relation to each hour of the event. We met at his home/office. He played songs for us while we were there & even burned us a CD with our wedding song, some of the dance music I liked & greek music (I'm greek and Paul needs to learn our dances for the wedding!)!!! Something he clearly didn't need to do!

Just thought I'd pass it along. Anyone in need of a DJ might want to give him a try. He's reasonable, I heard him do my cousin's wedding (outstanding work!) and very customer service oriented.

His phone # is in my previous post. : )
