Re: Do you Feel Bad??

No, I don't feel bad. My ring is perfect, exactly what I wanted, and not half as expensive as many of the other rings I've seen.

Re: Do you Feel Bad??

Mine lucked out. I didn't want him to get me a ring. My Mom passed away a few years ago and it meant a lot to me to use her diamond. I just asked that we get a new Platinum setting, which we did.

Re: Do you Feel Bad??

I know that in the world of engagement rings, mine was not $$$$$. He got a beautiful ring for what he could afford. If he had spent more, I would have been upset; I told him when we first started talking about getting married that I didn't want something super super expensive. I constantly hear about guys who give up so many things or charge the engagement ring on multiple credit cards, and I can't see the point in doing that. Sometimes he asks me if I wish the ring was bigger, and I tell him 'absolutely not, its perfect.' SO the answer is, no I do not feel bad.

Mine too. Since I'm small, a large diamond would look silly on me anyway

Re: Do you Feel Bad??

I was w/him & I cried b/c I felt terrible. He spent eveything that he saved for about 9 mos. I loved him even more to be willing to go broke for me, but I really did feel bad. I would have been happy with less carat weight but he insisted. He is such a good man

Same here!

I have a family friend in diamond wholesale, and the ring appraised for nearly 3x what he paid.

No, it wasn't 2 months salary, but he walked in there with cash, and walked out with my beautful ring. No debt at all - and nothing else suffered because he purchased my ring. He was fresh out of college, working as a substitute teacher, yet still managed to pick out the ring of my dreams. Sometimes I feel things are just meant to be.

I didn't feel bad because I've seen him waste a lot of money on stupid stuff like his stupid collection of Simpsons figurines that he thinks will be worth something one day.

I agree- He bought himself a new watch that day also- so I don't feel bad about the money he spent-

I do feel bad about my wedding band- b/c it came to double what we thought- but he doesn't complain

Re: Do you Feel Bad??

I know what he spent on it and what it actually appraised for and I'm impressed! He did a good job.

I don't feel bad one bit. Not at all. Sure, we could have used the money on a down payment. Sure, I could have bought a new car. But everytime I look at my ring, I am so excited and happy and giddy all over again.

Re: Do you Feel Bad??

No, I didn't pick it out or dictate what it 'Had to be' .........he did everything himself and wouldn't have spent what he did if he couldn't afford to .

Re: Do you Feel Bad??

In a way I almost felt bad about the cost of the ring...I guess it was because I couldn't believe that something that costs THAT much would be on my finger on a daily basis. FI and I discussed the ring cost together, and I was actually telling him we shouldn't get the one he was getting made for me, and he insisted that he was okay paying that amount for it. So there was a little guilt at first, since I'm a VERY low maintenance person. Later when he proposed and I saw it, I fell in love with it immediately! We went to get it appraised, and it was valued at TWICE what my FI paid for it, I actually didn't feel any guilt because I felt he got a great deal on it.

Re: Do you Feel Bad??

I don't/didn't feel bad. I told FH to get me a CZ and not tell me, replace it in 5-10 years. He laughed at me but I put it out there. I LOVE my ring. I picked the setting (he doesn't know that BF took him shopping).

When I saw the appraisal I was suprised that he didn't take me up on it and was nervous since he was SLOW to insure it. But it is perfect and will last a lifetime. He bought himself a 50 DLP the same day so... for both of us.
