Re: Do you know of any halls like NRC but cheaper?

SandCastle is more $$ than NRC isn't it?

I don't really think NRC is that expensive as catering halls go, even though most people seem to think it is. I'm paying the same amt my sister paid for her wedding at CHCC in 2003.

No, Sandcastle is a lot more reasonable than NRC. I'm pretty sure you can do a reception for as little as $70pp there.

No, it's no way near Russo's. I've never price Russo's but I friend of mine is paying almost $200 pp for a June wedding there. When are you looking to get married? I would def. ck out Sandcastle - plus don't you get a free HM??

Re: Do you know of any halls like NRC but cheaper?

I don't want to offend anyone, but I have seriously been to EVERY reception site in Nassau. Here are my reviews:
~NRC - very expensive (imo) but absolutely gorgeous - i got quoted for $124 per person before tax/grat

~SMCC - has great potential, but looks very outdated - needs to update their whole 70's theme, but VERY inexpensive. charging $69 per person (before tax/grat) - approximately $80 per person after.

~Fox Hollow - i'm biased, but it's beautiful, and i've included pics - i'm paying $89 per person including tax/grat with mini-viennese, and it's a 5 1/2 hour event b/c the cocktail hour is 1 1/2 hrs and they give your guests a choice of 7 entree's! Yes, 7! Not just 3/4.

~Crest Hollow - beautiful, but they have about 7,000 weddings at a time, and the food isn't that great. Approximately $85 per person including tax/grat

~Swan Club - beautiful grounds, wasn't too happy about the area where the ceremony and/or cocktail hour is held, but the reception rooms are beautiful. Food's great, and the price is great. It was my second choice, but it looked a little crammped with the tables set up for 110, so I couldn't imagine them setting the room for 1150. They quoted me for $92 per person including tax/grat.

GOOD LUCK!

Mary, we were quoted at SandCastle and NRC. Sandcastle was WAY less. They offer a really nice menu and threw in lots of extras. I've heard the food is very good also. HTH. Good Luck!

Re: Do you know of any halls like NRC but cheaper?

i'm not offended by the smcc comment, i just disagree. its classic, not outdated. maybe it could use soem renovating, but it doesn't look like a reception hall, and thats what drew me & fh to it in the first place

Re: Do you know of any halls like NRC but cheaper?

I'm thinking maybe Timber Point? I've never been there, but I know its considerably less expensive. Unfortunately its location isn't as convenient as NRC, but it seems very nice.

Re: Do you know of any halls like NRC but cheaper?

Wow..the prices you're quoting are SO opposite what I have between me and my sister. My sis paid about $125 p/p for her wedding at CHCC. My wedding base price is $100 p/p and I added stuff. Maybe we'll check out sandcastle for the heck of it..and SMCC. It's just so hard because I LOVE NRC and I really want to keep it there..once you've imagined having your first dance at a palce about a hundred times, you don't want to change it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet..keep those ideas coming. looking at SMCC and SC aren't q abd idea though because they're both within a mile of FH's apt.

Hmm, what happened to Miller Place Inn? I think it's probably the most comparable, atmosphere-wise, to North Ritz.

Incidentally, I'm not having my reception there, so this is not a biased opinion :)

Miller Place Inn is in Miller Place, Long Island, silly. I know it's Suffolk County. I'm from Brooklyn, so what do I know?

Their website is www.millerplaceinn.com

The wedding business can be bizarre
I am getting married at NRC on a Sat. night this summer(booked last year) and got quoted a lot more than you so I'm not sure how they do it. I know I couldn't guarentee a lot of people so maybe that's why. Maybe the NRC can work with you

The time of year makes a big difference! I think Marymoon's wedding is in December and yours July so there is the price difference. The number of people you guarantee affects the price too.

Honestly someone made a comment above that the NRC being expensive for what you get. THat is absolutely NOT true. I had people coming up to me and saying that it was the BEST food they ever had at a hall. One of my friends who hates salads said it was the best he had eaten in his life. The cocktail hour and vienniese was very impressive. One of my friends said all he needed was one more hour in teh cocktail room and he was set for life.

Not only the food - but the service was exceptional too. As was the decor just simply perfect. If you look at the way that the granite was installed throughout the hall (especially teh intriquite dance floor) - this only adds to this gorgeous hall!

Sorry Marymoon -i know you are looking for another hall and i dont mean to make the NRC more irresistable. But honestly - the NRC is really worth its money. And the fact that it is not well known yet was the cake topper.

*sigh* i LOVE NRC. I think I'm just going to have to stick with it, whether it means changing the day of the week or postponing, I think I have to have my wedding there..once you've imagned having your first dance on that dance floor, there's really no turning back

I guess it depends on if you have gotten a quote from sandcastle recently. Now that they are more popular and everyone compares the food to russos the prices have gone WAY up. I was quoted $5 less per plate by NRC for the same date as Sandcastle had quoted me ( this was 2 years ago) I know a few people who have looked at SC recently and the prices they were quoted were nuts! If I hadn't booked 2 years ago there is no way I would be able to afford it now. But they did also throw in a lot of extras.
Kdrainy looked at both sandcastle and russos recently and asked about the same date... Sandcastle was a little more then russos had quoted her.

I think changing the date might be a great alternative. That way you can still have your day in your dream location.
