Hello im new to the chat. My boyfriend and I got engaged two weeks ago and decided on 2009. We wanted to enjoy our engagement and to save for a wedding of our dreams. Has anyone gotten 2009 prices yet? And does anyone have any suggestion for a hall thats not your everyday cookiecutter Long Island Hall? Im so frustrated with all the same decor and menus of all the places im looking at. But Cheatu La Mer is the one standing out to me the most. Has anyone heard about the food threr if its good or Not? ANy suggestions would be helpful @ this point. Thanx And Congrats to all 2009 Brides!!!!!

Time definitely flies. I have been engaged since June and we've booked a June 2008 wedding - it used to be a full two years away and now it's already 1 1/2 yrs away.

Trust me, time flies.

hello guys... sorry to crash, book your halls as soon as you know to lock in the cheaper rate. once the new year comes everything goes up... i also noticed that after easter the prices for vendors such as florists went up as well. good luck and happy planning!!

Hey there! My wedding is booked for March 28,2009. It seems like a long time to wait but time will fly and it gives you more time to plan and save. Don't let anyone tell you there is anything wrong with waiting. I am getting married at Jericho Terrace and I really suggest looking there. Congratulations!

Hi guys...I just got engaged in Disney at Cinderella's Castle on December 14th. We are looking for a March 14, 2009 wedding and its soooooooo far away!!! LOL

Congratulations! That is so awesome!!!! I'm getting married in March 09 also but at the end of the month, the 28th. It seems so far away now but I've been engaged 6 months already and I can't believe it! The time goes really fast! A disney wedding sounds so fun! That is where we are going to go on our Honeymoon. Thanks! My FH and I have been there 3 times in the last year and a half. He has found the best ways to book everything! I can give you so much advise lol.

OH MY GOD YES! I wish I had the $ to do it sooner. But hey it's already 2007. And that just means we'll hopefully be more prepared when our time comes. Two of my friends recently got engaged and they are rushing around planning. One getting married this year and the other in 2008.

WEll at least all of you can now say its two years away instead of 3 years, so its not that bad...Time flies though, i remember saying two years not that long ago, and now its 16 months, almost 15 actually...Just save as much as you can, and do alot of research...Enjoy it, this is the best part

I went to the Chateau La Mer and the food was fantastic. I would have chosen them but they are too far away. Excellent choice though!!

I just wanted to crash in for a minute...

I got engaged in November of 2005 and while I still have 11 months to go, the past year has gone by SOO QUICKLY! 2009 will be here before you know it.

For right now, enjoy the time of being engaged! You will only experience this once (hopefully) in your lifetime. For the the rest of your lives you will be married- so enjoy the process!!

Not to get too personal but the PMS train in pulling into the station this week. So as I'm reading how sweet you all are to make us feel better about 2009 (because as you ALL probably know, you can't please everyone and everyone has a comment about something) I'm tearing up. LOL.

Last night at the bridal show at Russo's On The Bay (where our reception will be). I looked into changing the date a day earlier. I felt that coming from Staten Island to get to Queens during a holiday was a bit of a rush when the reception is at 12pm to 5pm. Well, when I heard the price (I almost passed out). So we are changing the date from 9/7/09 to 11/27/09 and although it's a bit more than 9/7/09, it's still $50.00 less than it would have been on 9/6/09. It's still my 'fall wedding' and it's at night. Why I listened to people because of the price I'LL NEVER KNOW. I should have just put it for 11/27 from the beginning. - Sorry for rambling.

There is a friend of mine who I LOVE TO DEATH. However, I feel like every time I tell her something she's putting in her comments and it's MAKING ME CRAZY. If I say something her attitude is, 'Oh I'm just saying', or 'Oh I'm just kidding'. Even though I know she's not. And as much as we both love each other and feel like sisters I sometimes feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall. And if I say something I know she'll get upset and take it the wrong way.
Any suggestions?????

best advice i have gotten....just remember that it is YOUR wedding and YOUR day. Someone is always going to have something to say about everything. The only person you have to make happy with your wedding plans is you and FH!! HTH

I totally agree with that, always remember that it is your wedding and your day. I had a friend tell me a couple of months ago that my fiance really wasn't my fiance (implying that we're not getting married for so long so he's really just a boyfriend). She's getting married this year so apparently to her you have to get married within a year for it to actually count. But people like that don't know what they're talking about. People will always have something to say but you're in love and you and your FI are going to be happy forever and that's all that matters!

OMG!! Some people say the strangest things!! I would never say that to someone. Do they ever stop and think that maybe you have to pay for things yourself or you have to finish school or whatever your reason. People should just keep thoughts like that to themselves!!!

I was wondering if that happens.....so when I am getting the 2009 rates now, do they change throughout the year?? Its so confusing to me

hello. yes prices WILL change. if you sign your contract now for 2009 the price can't change on you. make sure you go over that when signing & booking.
make sure they are not allowed to change your price. obvisouly the quoted prices can change before you book.
i booked russo's the end of 2006 for 2009 and the only reason why they changed my price was because i changed the date.
