Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???

Yes this is a suckky sales tactic, I guess they think if they dont tell you the style or the designer you wont go somewhere else.

FYI-most salons take the designers style # and put it backwards on the tag-so if the style is 123 its actually 321.

Try that and see what you come up with-if nothing go back and take pics of yourself in the dress-with a camera phone or whatever-who cares if they say that you can, do it anyway-trust me they wont take your camera away

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???

that is ridiculous... i've heard of them not giving out names or numbers but not even the designer??? I would not like that at all.

My shop gave me the name and everything right up front and I didn't even order mine that day.

Funny.. It actually made me want to go somewhere else. So it did the opposite of what they were attempting to do..LOL!

So the numbers I took off the tags were:
4272-47
and
4299-110

If anyone can help that would be great. I think they were both strapless chatilly lace gowns with intricate beadwork.

Thanks!!

I just started my dress search as well, and I think I found my dress. I went to two places and both were extremely helpful, one even wrote down the designer and style numbers for me, and both allowed me to take pictures as well, which I have heard some of them do not.

Definitely try someplace else

Where was this? I am open to recommendations....

TIA!

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???

I don't think I am planning on buying it now. I was very upset with the way i was treated today. I was in the day before and had a great experience though. Maggies are easy though. I didn't know which Maggie I had on but you can just google Maggie Sottero and the style number and get the name. I don't even know the designers. So they are expecing me to shell out $1500 and not even know what I am buying. its like looking at watches.. and not letting people know if its a rolex or just some cheap imitation... ***???

Like I said the reason i want to know is I am at the eginning of my dress shopping and I would really like to check out more dresses by those designers... I feel like my visit was a total waste... not only am I upset and don't want to go back there but the dresses I really like I have to go refind somewhere else... and I have no information to go on....

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???

oops sorry I left out the names

I went to Village Bridal and the place where they wrote down the styles for me was Bridal Elegance

The people in both places were really helpful and sweet

I agree with going somewhere else-I guess some people who go probably dont care or see it as a way of coniving you into buying from them.

I can tell you this-the number after the dash is probably the desiger and the number before is the style-dont know if that helps you at all.

I googled them-didnt come up with any lace ones-sorry-dont let it ruin the experience, try to remember what they looked like, the next place may be able to tell you exactly who the designer is by description.

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???

So... after some investigative work I found one of the 2 dresses...
It is Blue by Enzonai - Accra. it's even prettier in person that online.

Now I just need to find the other... my mom thinks its Valentino or Valentina. Does anyone know the website for this designer??? I could not find it.
Thanks!!

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???

I went to the bridal salons website and saw what designers they carry and went directly to those designers websites. I wanted to see if I could get a better deal. It ended up that only one other store in the tri state area had it and it wasent worth the trip.

I've heard that there are shops that do this! It's unbelievable! I personally would never buy from a shop who removes the tags from the dresses and doesn't share information regarding the designer. I think it's deceitful and dishonest!

amen !!!!!!! I wouldn't buy from a store like that either

Re: Dress shopping... Is this normal???

ive seen a bunch of girls post on the boards saying they had the same experience, seems like quite a few bridal shops do this.

I only went to one place and they didnt do this but i wouldnt like it either if i went somewhere and they didnt even tell me the designer of the dress.

Some girls have said its because they dont want you to go elsewhere to look for it for less by calling and asking how much theyre selling it for, but if you go in person to other shops not like you dont have eyes and cant tell if its the same dress.

I wouldnt want to buy a dress either from somewhere that did this, if i am paying all this money for a dress, i would like to know the designer
